An absolutely delicious ramen experience in Sunnybank Hills. The Classic Ramen with Nitamago eggs, tender pork, spring onions, and perfectly cooked noodles was full of rich, comforting flavour. We also enjoyed the pork and vegetable gyoza. The restaurant has a joyful atmosphere, stylishly designed to make you feel right at home.
I’ve visited this ramen noodle shop twice now, and I absolutely love it! The food is delicious, with generous portion sizes and great pricing. The staff are incredibly friendly and approachable they’re more than happy to answer questions and even share a bit about the history and origins of ramen noodles.nnOverall, it’s a warm and welcoming place with amazing food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back again!
If you are reading this review, it means you are curious about eating here. Like you, I scanned the reviews before deciding to come. It might help you to know that just a week before my visit, my family and I were in Japan, where ramen is not just a meal but a ritual. That experience gave me a pretty high bar to measure against, and I am happy to report that Ramen Danbo held its own in ways I honestly did not expect.nnFrom the very first bite, I felt transported back to my favorite ramen spots in the world. The broth was rich, deep, and comforting, with that perfect umami balance that separates decent ramen from great ramen. The noodles were springy and cooked exactly to my chosen firmness, a feature that I love because it puts the experience in your hands. Being able to customize everything, from noodle texture to broth intensity, spice level, and oil content, is a level of personalisation I have rarely seen in ramen shops outside Japan. It is a thoughtful touch that shows how much the team here values authenticity.nnThe charsiu was beautifully prepared, tender and slightly fatty, exactly how it should be. The portion size was generous, enough to satisfy even someone with a hearty appetite. What I really appreciated was the overall quality of the ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and carefully prepared. It is clear they are not cutting corners.nnIf I had one gripe, it would be the cost of extras. Charging two dollars for sesame seeds feels a little unnecessary, and it is easy to feel like you are being nickeled and dimed if you want to elevate your bowl with a few add-ons. Then again, maybe that is just a sign of the times. It is still a little jarring to me when I have to pay for tomato sauce or soy sauce at restaurants in Australia, so this might be part of that broader shift. The good news is that the quality of the ramen itself is so high that even without the extras, you will leave happy.nnThe space itself is modest but welcoming. Tables are close together, which adds to the lively atmosphere but also means conversations are shared with your neighbors whether you intend them to be or not. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed and it stayed that way throughout our meal. High turnover is almost always a good sign, and it was certainly true here. The décor is what you might expect from a Japanese eatery in Australia: red and black accents, clean lines, and a slightly minimalist aesthetic. It is not quite the same as stepping into a ramen shop in Japan, but it does the job.nnThe staff deserve special mention. They were friendly, efficient, and constantly in motion. I did not see anyone standing around, which tells me this team is well-trained and takes pride in what they do. It is a small detail, but it makes a big difference in the overall dining experience.nRamen Danbo is part of a well-respected chain that originated in Fukuoka, Japan, and has since expanded internationally to cities like Vancouver, New York, and Singapore. Their commitment to bringing authentic Kyushu-style tonkotsu ramen to the world is evident in every bowl they serve here in Sunnybank Hills.
The place has a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere, with decor that feels cosy and thoughtfully put together. Their Classic Ramen featuring melt-in-your-mouth pork, silky nitamago eggs, crisp spring onion and noodles that are cooked just right is incredibly satisfying and full of depth and flavour. The add ons make the meal even more enjoyable and flavourful. Truly a standout ramen stop in Sunnybank Hills!
Visited on a weekday for lunch, not too busy, which was nice. The ramen at Danbo was tasty, just a bit small for me. Staff were friendly but the place isn’t really kid-friendly. They also add a 2.2% surcharge for card payments, which is a bit higher than most places.
