I stay in a lot of different accommodation options, from super cheap to moderately expensive. Usually there isn't too much to write home about, but this one stood out for all the wrong reasons. On check in, I was explained that there were actually two accommodation options within the one reception. I stayed in the Gordon Place one, on the other side of the block from Lonsdale and after check in, had to walk out the front door and through a bunch of alley ways to eventually make it to the entrance of the Gordon Place units. I was on Level 3 and first impressions of the apartment were OK. The apartment I was in was huge, had a lounge, full kitchen, laundry, separate bedroom and bathroom and could have been amazing. But, there were a range of issues which started to appear from the minute I walked in the door. I arrived around 11pm, and the first step I took the floor squeaked. I thought it might just be the hallway, but literally 80-90% floor surfaces in he whole apartment were squeaky. Even the hard tiled floors squeaked, all through the bathroom and kitchen areas. I was working until approx 1am and felt terrible that I could possibly be causing other guests noise issues either side. Then I headed into the bathroom. There were all sorts of issues here, but the main ones were the amount of hair on the bathroom floor, the dirty 'new' towel, and the shower door that actually came off while I was in there, and only allowed me to get out once I re-seated the rail with a bit of brute force. The internal surfaces in the shower were also pretty poor, but kind of expected for all the other issues. The bedroom was OK, the bed was huge, think it was a king, but you could feel the zip holding the two single beds together. The sheets had a big rip in them, not that I notices that until the morning as I was so tired the night before. I only slept 4 hours before getting up at the to continue to work, but the bed was OK comfort wise. I didn't use the kitchen, so can't really comment there but looked OK. Generally just wanted to ensure people knew that this place wasn't super flash and if you get a good deal $$, I can understand why. Getting back to reception to check out in the morning was another mission. I went the 'other' route, through the building following the 'To Reception' signs and it was a left, right, right, left, up, down, outside, inside, swipe card, spin around kind of deal. They literally just need two receptions. Would I stay again? Only if my company was paying for it as it did this time. Looking for somewhere quite nice? Look elsewhere.

Pleasantly surprised when I upgraded on the size of the suite. The hotel is in a historic building with a very interesting place in Melbourne's architectural scene and I highly recommend it as it's extremely unique! That being said the TV was very small and the air con not much for combating a 38c Melbourne day but I suspect these things are being fixed and for the price of the rooms I didn't mind the minor things that could be fixed... Also had lovely friendly staff at the reception. I've stayed in much fancier hotels- but this hotel has character and value plus the location is a very nice part of the CBD.

The rooms are outdated, for a 2 bedroom apartment you had to walk through one of them to get to the toilet and shower so bad luck if you really needed to go to the toilet and someone was having a shower etc. the second seperate bedroom had no wardrobe, drawers or hooks to hang things or put things away. They only had 4 towels for 3 people and 1 hand towel. The lift is scary, small, slow and hot. Its close to all the restaurants and china town but abit far to major shopping areas and Etihad stadium. you also have to check in at the quest on Lonsdale street and walk around to get to the the quest on gordon place. Very pricey for what you get. the Quilt is yellow and stained. Overall very disappointed and wouldnt stay there again.

Quest Gordon Place is a lovely red brick building only a twenty-five minute walk or fifteen minute tram ride from Southern Cross station. The check-in for the hotel is located around the corner in the Quest on Lonsdale Street, which is a two minute walk away. Pretty well located and the room was clean and comfortable.

If I could rate this hotel lower I would. Lets start from when we got there, - our room wasnt ready when it should have been - wasnt able to get to bags when we did get in a room cause they cancelled and mixed up the room cards - disorganised - mould growing on bedroom on carpet - no aircon - only got 1 card per couple Had to get a replacement room that was smaller - no aircon still - had to use fans - the “king bed” was 2 single matress’s pushed together - kettle didnt even boil water only mid-temp water - not enough cutlery for even 3 people (we had 4 people in the room) - staff disorganised - staff unaware of problems - slow elevator that moves as slow as a snail - lots of dust - unclean - didnt replace bed sheets - didnt replace bathroom dirty towels I will not be returning. I would reccomend finding another place to stay!
