Most times we've come here there's been a wait on the kitchen.. busy. Many meal items are smaller servings but packed with flavour and detail. So if you're super hungry order from the cabinet. Great coffee. Offered complimentary coffee refill for the wait. Nice place to bring visitors, with a garden walk afterwards. Parking availability and cafe seating reflect capacity.
Really nice setting, Staff where very attentive. We arrived 20 mins after opening and it was at around 85% full, surprisingly the food came out in reasonable time. I ordered the Turkish eggs and rate it a 8.5/10, it would have been a 9 if the Yoghurt was closer to room temp. The cold yogurt cooled the warm parts of the dish quite quickly.
Yesterday was a busy day with large bookings and many indoor tables while it rained outside. The view is charming, decor modern, food is incredible and their team a true delight! Regardless of the line of people to order, endless food flying out the kitchen and cabinet the staff were happy, uplifting, bubbly, working hard and very professional in what could have been a stressful environment. Clearly all of Whangarei and out-of-towners as myself enjoy this high quality food and service. Thank you team! Parking: One way road and packed parking up top. If you have a large car or don't like driving in tight spaces might be best to park down bottom. Not a long walk to the cafe.
The Quail is always such a pleasure to visit! The food/Coffee is consistently amazing. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The location is beautiful, nice to walk the quarry gardens! Hands down the best cafe in Whangarei. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options Kid-friendliness: Great kids menu Parking: Lots of parking. Dietary restrictions: Lots of GF, DF, VEG options and no request is ever an issue. Very accommodating.
Great cafe situated in a beautiful garden. Staff were friendly and service was good. The bruschetta was very nice!
Whangarei's hidden gem! I was today years old when I found this place. After 47 years living in the area! What a beautiful cafe and garden's, best coffee in northland, the food is well presented, and the taste is amazing. Friendly welcoming staff and just a great atmosphere. Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and this beautiful cafe has many options for me
We started off the day with a delicious breakfast at the restaurant at the Quarry Gardens They don't have a big breakfast menu, but there are enough options for every taste bud They also have some delicious cabinet food and sweet treats Even though it was quite busy, the staff were very attentive With the music and all the people, it does get quite loud, and I struggled to hear people across the table Parking is a bit of a nightmare. Only one car can go down or up the driveway at any one time. Because it has a bend, there is no way of seeing oncoming cars, so you enter by faith. Unfortunately, when you're met by another vehicle, someone has to reverse all the back and start again. There's also a weird one lane road around the carpark. There are no signs indicating a one way, so people get stuck going every which way The intention was to walk around the gardens after our breakfast. It's apparently amazing, and requires a koha donation entry. It had been raining steadily since last night and the trail starts with an incline, which my jandels definitely said no to. It was still well worth a visit Parking: Parking is a bit of a nightmare. Only one car can go down or up the driveway at any one time. This is a lovely, clean and very popular cafe/restaurant. It adjoins the Quarry Gardens off Russell Rd. As you enter, drive straight ahead up to the carpark which can be quite congested due to the popularity of these attractions. Inside/outside eating with table service. Cabinet and blackboard food options. Very clean Loo's. Pleasant, attentive staff. Bush outlook is lovely. A 'must visit'.
I absolutely love this place lily owner is the sweetest and so hardworking, her team are amazing. The food is fabulous especially the baked French toast. 10/10 highly recommend. Best cafe in the city, plus the setting is so sereneFood: 5/5
We arrived at the cafe, maybe a half hour after opening and we got caught in a bit of a rush! I can't fault the place for being popular, but just be prepared for a wait to order. The person taking our order was super helpful with my son's dietary requirements, answering our questions while we tried not to hold up the line any further. Our coffees were delicious. I didn't catch what beans they use. Good range of alternative milks. I got the eggs benedict with bacon which came on a brioche bun - nice surprise! Pesto and balsamic drizzles on the outside, excellent choices. Eggs perfectly poached. Bacon not crispy, not too chewy. My wife got the creamy mushrooms which was a generous portion. Came with some slices of ciabatta to soak up the creamy sauce. She definitely enjoyed it. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu, and a tiny little play station with a couple of wooden toys, some colouring in pencils and a bird house. Maybe some books too. Parking: The cafe is at the entrance to the park, so there's a fair amount of parking. Wheelchair accessibility: As you enter the main car park, you'll see a little bridge on your left which leads to the main entrance. If you drive over the bridge you'll find mobility parking. The entrance is nice and large and didn't seem to be any thresholds that would impede a wheelchair
