Cool place, likeable interiors with all the gaming stuff setup. Polite staff, a very little bit longer to serve than usual but c'mon, it's a small town. $10 Lunch Specials seem like they'd be small in quantity compared to the regular menu but they're plentiful for 1 person, even a hog like me! The chicken wraps are yum! The fish was fresh & good. . . fantastic chips, BTW, really great! Decent beef quesadillas, very filling again. The nachos aren't the best despite the beef & stuff being the same as in the quesadillas. Superb wedges, too, and you enough have enough dips everywhere to go around & still have a little left.

Just had absolutely the best pub steak meal since I've been home in NZ3 years..Up there with a very exclusive steak restaurant I've eaten at in Perth that is 3 times more expensive. 10/10..well done..beautiful steak,perfect chips and an actual proper salad with tomato,cucumber, onion,feta and lettuce with a nice dressing.

Punters has slowly become dissapointing, after 14 years of stopping in, I need to review. Owners/management have no sense of community, vague and depressing. Kitchen is always closed and they tell you with spite as if its offensive to order a meal. Shutting down light's and TAB when its busy and early. On multiple occasions the TAB has been shutdown mid bet. Owners/managers gambling while customers wait at the bar. If it wasnt the only pub in town they would go bust. 2 stars is for hope. I know covid has brought on hard times and stress for hospitality, but punters staff is not helping there situation.
We had a great time here. Even though it was crazy busy with the world cup All Blacks game on - the team here put up the best service. Not only did we all have snacks and drinks minutes within ordering we were well looked after even though it was almost midnight. Highly recommended. Great job Aman and team!! FYI Nachos were yumm.
We hadn’t planned to be in Tairoa but the road was closed due to flooding. We had a great night at the local. Friendly peeps. Really good food we both had the beef burger. Stop a night, play some pool with the locals and run your tunes on the jukebox. Classic Kiwi
Went in for a drink and maybe a snack but was told at 7:40 the kitchen had closed. We were the last people to be served even though we were not the last to arrive. A smile would go a long way for the service. $17 for a beer and a glass of wine...
Super service excellent food
Went there for dinner tonight not expecting to much. We order steak sandwichs and beef and cheese burgers, when they came out l we where presently surprised they where absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
