The Powerhouse Museum is part of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), a New South Wales Government funded cultural institution.

Story

Powerhouse Museum is a premier science, design, technology & decorative arts museum based in central Sydney.

Together with the Sydney Observatory and the Castle Hill Discovery centre, it makes up the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences.

The Museum is open every day except for Christmas Day (25 December).

Loved the display on guitars. Nice activity to do considering it was free
We had a very enjoyable time walking around... transportation of all times... from first motorcycle to futuristic city... from the ground to the skies... it is such an amazing journey to do... takes a good one and a half hour, but the time freezes when there, it becomes irrelevant... great time.
Museum going through renovations so offering free entry. Please don't bother. Hard to navigate, lack of present exhibitions on display. Nothing for kids to enjoy other than run around vast empty spaces. Wait till renovations complete.
Fantastic experience. We took our 3 year old and he adored the place. Highlight was the steam engines, which are fully functioning and provide endless fascination for the little ones with all their moving parts.
The standard exhibits are still good and currently free entry. However the museum could benefit from some new exhibits, overall starting to look dated and losing relevance. Time for a rethink and rejuvenation.
