Story

The Historic Port of Echuca precinct is an authentic working steam port, home to Australia’s largest fleet of steam-driven paddlesteamers.

Although its major commodity has changed from wool to people, Port of Echuca still operates much the same as it did in the 1860's, with our shipwrights and steam engineers providing a vital role in the Port's operations today, just as they would have in the late 1800's.

Interesting place to visit. Port of Echuca maintained the way it was before Federation. There are an increasing number of restored Paddle Steamers moored along the Murray River near the restored wharf.  Echuca has a collection of  the most working Paddle Steamer in the world.   Highly recommended

Very interesting and informative recreation of the Echuca port as it once was. There are various shops and industries making products for purchase, i.e. they're not just actors. The boat tour down the river was also very worthwhile.

Well kept history, close to town, shops, dinning. Boats rides highly recommended. Great in Winter, as it's quiter but still has plenty of life!

The Port of Echuca good but has been better. When the tin shed was built, and the loss of the first blacksmith and the Oscar W restaurant it has lost the character. Get rid of the tin shed it looks out of place with the theme of the Port.

I loved cruising the Murray on the paddle steamer "Pevensey", the boat used on the movie "All the rivers run" It was like stepping back in time. Lovely
