It doesn't look like much from outside .. very unassuming.. have walked passed more times than I can remember thinking that it was dodgy! After spotting some very content Koreans coming out of the shop smiling and laughing .. thought I'd pop in to see the menu.. lady boss and staff were very friendly .. impressed by their soup and KFC menu we decided to stay and sit in the back section. An enclosed carport : w/ tacky retro deco. I thought it was pretty cool! Haha Onto the food.. had the kimchi soup m and the Soy chillie KFC fillet. It was only the 2 of us. No way we could've done the other KFC .. portion too big. We struggled to finish the soup which was generous for $30. Great value! other places for the same would be more. Both were amazing! With the right balance of chillie saltiness and crisp and gue if u know what I mean. : I think I've found my new KFC fav!! Next time will try the larger KFC w/ bone and just beer. The kimchi soup. What can I say we were sooo full we still stuffed ourselves with it. Full of flavour others I've had seem to be watered down compared to Pocha's. Will def return to try other tarngs! Have to agree with others.. service is a bit slow but is understandable their kitchen is small. But heck we didn't mind.. was happy drinking the week away!!
A nice little local place which serves up some tasty, authentic Korean! Downstairs isn't pretty, but upstairs has a nice dining area. On the downside service was a bit chaotic but the waiter did his best give that he was alone. Also the buttons for service didn't seem to be of any use, and probably need to be removed. Looking forward to eating there again in the future!
Came for the fried chicken and fried chicken only. Did not leave disappointed. Very friendly service and the chicken was great. Reasonably priced especially if you try the Korean beer. A hidden gem. Will definitely be back.
Good food in general. Service is slow. Less staff so can't blame the staff for it. It's an old house that has been converted a bit to be a restaurant. Not very aesthetically pleasing. Can be better given the location of Koornang Road.
The normal dining menu food was good, but not for BBQ menu, lack of staff, long waiting time, pricy. Had been waiting for 10mins mins before the staff came and took my order. Another 20mins before the first dish has been arrived on the table. Please expect long waiting time during dinner time or go there earlier. Ordered food from normal dining menu, it was good, but not from BBQ menu. There has no marinated beef in the menu, the staffs don't know what is "marinated" mean, you can get better quality of BBQ beef from Korean shop! Go to the other BBQ restaurants in the area if you want to have BBQ on the table. Pricy place, even the side dishes kimchi had to order and paid, no free refill!
I have mixed feelings about Pocha. The food was delicious, the flavors were spot on for BBQ meat. However the decore is homey, borderlining shabby. Staff were attentive and very pleasant but at times confusing. I booked a table for 5, but were given one set of menu and made our own way upstairs where we had to pull up our 5th seat to the largest 4 seater table we could find. We also had to take an additional place setting from the empty table next to us. I would liken it to a comfortable pair of old shoes, I'd happily wear it at home but not go out with. If you want somewhere quiet and low key I'd recommend Pocha, there's no pressure to eat and leave within a 2-hour window, nor do you have to queue for a table and the food is comforting.
* GREAT FRIED CHICKEN. UNIQUE BEERS * Best KFC ain Melbourne. I eat here once a week, at least. I get the fried chicken with bones - half original and half sweet chilli. Try the grapefruit beer, it will blow your mind. Right next to Carnegie station. Friendly staff and laidback atmosphere. Backyard area with smoking. Unique list of Korean drinks. Great spot for dates.
I'll have the usual please. Seafood pancake, Spicey Galbizzim, original fried chicken and a glass of bong bong. Sooooo good. Staff are funny when they're busy, it's as if they've never been busy before.
Love me some Pocha. Some of the best Korean fried chicken this side of Seoul. Don't forget the seafood pancakes.
Probably the best Korean Fried Chicken, and price overall is decent. Will go try out the garden when the weather warms
