My niece celebrated her birthday at the Pineapple Hotel in Brisbane and I left wondering why it took me so long to visit this place. The moment you step inside, you realise that the word hotel hardly captures the scale of what is going on here. The venue is massive with rooms, alcoves, and distinct zones that each offer a slightly different experience. It almost feels like a small village tucked inside a single property. There is even a private room set aside for larger functions. If you want to check availability, I recommend visiting their website and having a look at their functions brochure.nnI was not planning on eating steak, but their 16 buck steak special was calling my name. Even though rump steak is not usually my top choice, I enjoyed my meal. Tender enough, flavorful enough, and served with that no fuss confidence that good pubs do well. It hit the spot. Sometimes a bargain really is a bargain.nnThe most surprising part of the night was how much history sits inside this place. The Pineapple Hotel has been serving locals since around 1864, when it first opened near the old Norman Creek bridge. It earned its name from the pineapple farms that once surrounded the area long before Kangaroo Point became part of the growing Brisbane landscape. Over the years, the hotel has evolved from a simple roadside stop into a full scale hospitality landmark. It has been renovated, expanded, and modernised, yet it has kept its old Brisbane character. You can feel it in the timber beams, the old photos, stained glass windows and the easy-going energy that only long standing pubs seem to maintain. That blend of history and growth is something you do not see often.nnShannon, the manager on duty, was incredibly helpful. He answered all of my questions about the layout and encouraged me to explore the different spaces. Special shout out to Chloe who opened up the private room so that I could take a quick look. Service like that matters. It shapes the tone of a visit and it certainly elevated mine.nnAs the night wrapped up and we wished my niece a happy birthday yet again, I found myself already planning a return visit. The Pineapple Hotel is one of those places that carries the past into the present without losing its soul. It has size, personality, and a kind of Brisbane charm that you cannot fake.nnI will definitely be back and I am certain that I will bring my mates from the US to show them a proper slice of the Aussie pub life. In fact, I'm coming back to watch the Super Bowl here in a few weeks! Sometimes you find a gem by accident. Sometimes a birthday party steers you straight into one.
1st visit here, @1pm at the public bar. Nice old pub, built in 1864 I think, and nicely renovated. Had a pint of Guinness $15.70 and was very disappointed. Easily the worst pint in Brisbane I've had in a long time. Looked like a milkshake and didn't taste good. Avoid if you're after a decent pint of black
Always the best food here and service. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The place is always clean and the $17 jugs and $14 lunches have me here quite often! Thank you
The food was excellent.nnThe mini steak for kids was not what my girls would have gotten 20yrs ago on a kids menu.nnI was great.nnThe porchetta was delicious, and the Balter beers by the pint a bargain.
The pineapple is my favourite local pub. We go regularly for the $23 300 gram steak special and it’s always so good! So tasty and such good value. The staff are all so nice and you can just tell they have a really good staff culture there. The pineapple is a 3 generation family run business and you can feel it when you walk in.nnThe inside of the pub feels old school which I like. There are different areas to eat and drink and a playground if you have children. If you are Brisbane lions fan, this is the place together. If you want a quiet pub, avoid on game nights.
