A truly hidden gem in a predominantly industrial area. This inconspicuous industrial looking building houses a great community center, a prayer place masjid or mosque, a large restaurant as well as an “Islamic store” that sells a range of items from dates to break your fasts, to modest clothing, perfumes, head scarves, books, gifts items, Islamic wall decor and more to name a few.nRestaurant is great for meals or a quick cup of coffee. Coffee is great unless you are out of luck and the barista is away. Also note the restaurant changed hands less than two years ago. So all not all the older reviewsnHas a rather large mens prayer area, a separate women’s prayer area, clean toilets and washroom wudu area. The spacious prayer hall is set out in what can be called a minimalist style with an unusual floating mimbar.nHuge parking area. Tip: rear parking provides the quickest access to the prayer hall, through the side doors.nnThe prayer hall is open all day from dawn till late in the evening for the five daily prayers. Also open for Friday prayers. Holds two Friday prayer sessions. The second Friday congregation starts about 2:45 in summer is probably one of the latest congregations in the area.nThere are also numerous Islamic classes and scheduled events led by resident imams and visiting scholars.nExtremely family friendly.nHas a top class restaurant on site. However the restaurant usually opens late afternoon about 4:00 in summer, except for Fridays, when it’s open early for lunch, snacks and coffee .nThere is also a separate building at the back used for training sessions and small events.nThe place is worth visiting if you’ve never been and if you are in the area.nGreat disabled access.nCan get very crowded on Fridays, in the evenings during Ramadan and also during special events.nWelcomes non Muslims and is a great place to take out non Muslim friends to.nSchool visits can be arranged by prior appointment.
not happy with restaurant owners forcing you to sit in particular spots. Honeslty unless the restaurant is fully booked, it’s unacceptable to boss people around to sit where you liked them to.nnyou go to a restaurant and pay premium to feel welcomed! seating and comfort is more important for some people that the food.
The local Muslim community has made a significant effort in establishing a place of worship that offers daily prayers five times a day. The management team is highly educated and demonstrates exceptional intelligence.
“Modern Islamic Place”nnThe place gives you the taste of modern Islam. Arabic Music with separate places for families and couples and singles. They even have cabins for those who wear hijab to make them feel comfortable while dining.nnFood- One of the best i’ve ever had. It took a little longer than expected to arrive but worth the wait. Taste and spices were really good.nnMust Try- Crispy Chicken wings. I bet you’ll never have that taste anywhere aroung melbourne.nnPlace welcomes all religions to dine in and enjoy. A must visit place.
Food quality and customer service is great! A beautiful mosque inside is a huge plus. If they can make some kids play area, that would make it a perfect place for families.
