A beautiful area right near the Piha beach, reasonably priced camp grounds but a few negatives with the facilities - 1. no soap to wash hands 2. a few hand towels lying around to dry hands with but by the end of the day they were all damp and gross looking, 3. showers timed for three minutes but not only do you have to swipe your card to start them, but you also have to keep pressing a button that stops water flow every 30 seconds or so. 4. Hardly any bins around.

Have stayed here previously with some family and it was fine but rather pricey. When we called to inquire about booking for a group of young adults we were told quite aggressively that 'they don't take groups more than four' and that it was a 'family camp.' The conversation was ended very quickly and I was told to send an email. Was quite taken aback and a little surprised. I totally get that maybe groups in the past haven't used the facilities well and left a mess perhaps, but the rudeness and lack of communication was quite disappointing. It wasn't explained or dealt with nicely at all. Very unimpressive and unfortunate we won't get to use these facilities this winter (or ever apparently until we have kids)!

Beautiful beach! The waves are great for body boarding or surfing. Need to reach early to get a parking spot near the beach though

So beautiful area and so much to see. Recommend to look beyond the nearest beach. This area have so much to offer.

Piha is a great place to hang out, the beach is beautiful, and a short drive from Piha town centre is the Kite Kite Falls. A lovely two tier water fall. Its an easy walk through NZ native forest. The trail are clearly marked. The only downside is that it can be very crowded on public holidays due to its easy access. At the bottom of the water fall is a medium size pool which you can go for a swim. There are also plenty of hiking trails near and around Piha.
