This bakery sure lives up to its reputation, balancing very tasty food with quality prices. We purchased two of their quality pies and 3 sweet things for roughly $20. Both pies were super tasty, well better than most competitors at the same price. Their traditional Dutch food, while sparse also tasted particularly good. Service was a amazing and plenty of selections to be had.
The female baker was friendly and cheeky. She advised us of the specials. I consumed a steak, bacon and cheese pie which was quite tasty 4/5. My friend had a great curry mince pie and chocolate croissant 4.5/5. Another friend had an Afghan which had a peculiar flavour with decent amount of icing 3/5. However she did give us a few bread rolls for free.
Meat pie galore. Lots to choose from and pastries and other sweets and coffee to finish all. Long lines during lunchtime but other times are in and out.
Steak and blue cheese pie interesting and tasty. Great selection of pies an other baked goods. Very popular but served fast and normal prices
Very fresh sandwiches with a large choice of bread. Nice set of sweets. The only bummer was no straws and the requested cups were charged $1 for two. Seating is not inside, but outside picknik tables. Parking across the street. Was 1 hour free at lunch time we were there.
Overall, this bakery was ok. Pies were fine- they’d sold out of most varieties by 12:15, so we just got what we could. The chicken apricot was pretty good, the steak and blue cheese was tasty enough but only had 2 pieces of steak in the whole pie. The apple crumble and cherry pie were quite bad- the pastry was stodgy, soggy and much too thick. Also- the girl at the counter who very reluctantly! served us was grouchy as anything!
We always stop here after a ferry trip. Really healthy filled rolls at a great price, my son enjoys the butter chicken pies with lots of chicken. There some seating outside and parking.
Stopped in for a steak n cheese pie but saw all the pies had been sold out, spoke to the lovely lady behind the counter and told her it was our last day before heading back to Auckland, she then handed us a free baguette and a bag of other yummy pastries, bought some other goodies aswell, thank you.
Unfortunately the chicken pie I bought today contained largely filler gluggy thickener, hardly any chunks of chicken - couldn’t finish it. So disappointing, given the reputation of this place.
Sorry Google , steak sold out before 12 : , pies were thick pastry and gelatinous but little meat, was not the place to go for me.
