If I were to rate them based on my taste preferences, I'd give them a two as I didn't like the food at all. Perhaps some of the spices were not compatible with my palate, and I don't think I'll go back again. However, it is a nice and clean restaurant with fresh ingredients. The staff is friendly and attentive.
My family and my friends came here for dinner last week. We ordered a few different dishes to share. the food was amazing. Lotus root salad is very fresh, Vietnamese bbq sauce in stir-fried chicken is very special from the chef. I like the way the chef grills the pork chops with charcoal,... The food came out very quickly, which made us very satisfied because we came with 3 kids. all of us were enjoy every single dish. We will definitely come back.
My wife and I have tried all the Vietnamese restaurants in Bayswater, and we think Pho Ngon Ngon in Croydon has better food than all the other ones in Bayswater.nnThe restaurant is extremely clean and fresh in appearance. However, it could probably do with a bit more decorations to liven the atmosphere. We also noticed the kitchen was super clean.nnWe had three vermicelli dishes crab spring roll, beaf in betel leaf, grilled pork chop, and soft shell crab. Everything was very fresh and flavoursome.nnWe are always on the hunt for good soft shell crab, and we think their's is possibly the best in the eastern suburbs. It's just perfectly cooked and seasoned others are often over cooked and super salty.nnService was friendly and efficiently for only two staff on the floor.nnTheir price is cheap, great value, and generous in serving size.nnSupport these guys and keep them in Croydon.
Admittedly my expectations were high after reading the many glowing reviews. My dining partner and I were both disappointed with our dining experience- food taste and service attitude. The prawn rice paper rolls were ok but could have been juicer. The sauce served with them was dry and did not help the situation. No condiments like salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, hoisin and soy sauce were on the table so we couldn't alter our food items to better suit our taste either. The tofu and vegetable soup was good but not amazing. I struggled with the Bun Bo Hue which was overwhelmed with a fish sauce taste and lacked in spiciness or flavour complexity. When I left, the fish sauce flavour aftertaste lingered in a very unpleasant way. I really wanted to like this place, and from the reviews it must delight some people. But for us, this place did not meet the bar for the many competing options for Vietnamese food in the general area. Perhaps this review will help people to decide whether the tastes I describe are what they yearn for or, like me, dislike.
The best beef combination pho I ever had with tasty sliced beef, beef briskets, beef balls … and soup. The rice paper rolls looked fresh and tasted good. The crispy spring rolls were even more yummy! Staffs were polite and attentive. 10% discounts on bills for opening. Prices are reasonable even without discounts. Surely my family and I will come back and try other dishes. Hope that the restaurant can keep its good standards in future.nnMy family and I went here again to celebrate Father’s Day last Friday. The restaurant was full of people. But we didn’t wait for a long time for the food. The restaurant can keep the same good standard of foods and services. The restaurant is spacious and the toilets are clean and tidy. Glad to see such a good Vietnamese restaurant in our neighbourhood and hope that it continues to serve our community. The first dish was Vietnamese pancake which looked delicious and in big portion. I couldn’t wait to eat and forgot to take a picture. There were big prawns and a lot of slice pork inside the pancake
