Used to buy family pies from here regularly, they were always of the highest quality and filled with ingredients. Unfortunately recent visits have disappointed. Last night's chicken, leek and mushroom pie was terrible. Completely over salted, almost inedible and devoid of ingredients except gravy. For $30 a pie I expect much better.
Went to Peters Butchery to get my favourite pie, a lamb number but they were sold out. Took a beef & mushroom instead. What a dreadful experience. The pie top came apart and it was all gravy with a few pieces of meat and a slice of mushroom. The sauce was scolding hot and just poured into the bag leaving me with a bit of beef between some pastry. Went back to say what happened in the most politest of ways. The guy behind the counter wasn’t the least it interested. He could well do with a lesson in public relations.
Just got a pie from here... Flavour very nice and top pastry was gorgeous. Unfortunately the bottom layer on both our pies was undercooked and soggy. If they fixed this up, these pies would be up there in the top 3 of Perth.
Had a Steak n Pepper pies. The filling is top notch. It’s served in a tin tray. You’ll need it but I loved the flavour of the pastry. Highly recommended- and I’m a pie consultant
Tried the butchery for the first time last Friday afternoon, had two big ribeyes cut at a cost of around $60. When I tried cooking them a few hours later they were a little smelly and slimey but proceeded to cook them, and they absolutely stunk to ammonia, it was clear they were off, so threw them out. Needless to say, won't be coming back.
If you haven't had a pie here, go get one. Absolutely worth it.
Bought bone-in rib eye and beef cheek. Amazing quality!! Good quality meat and sausages. They also sell various fresh baked pies. Awesome! Nice people too. Definitely a butcher to visit in Perth area.
I always thought the butchers were nice happy people until I walked into Peter’s butchery. Un friendly , disinterested-and unhelpful . I will not be going back.
Trust a butcher to put actual meat in a pie. Tried a proper steak. Went back for steak and Guinness. Fresh snags were great. Like to try some more fresh cuts.
Excellent service, high quality food. Highly recommend Amelia park lamb in a bag easy cooking and delicious and homemade pies
