The place is spacious, good for hangout with group of friends. Food is pretty decent with reasonable price
Great place that I've been coming to for the last 6 years with my family. The salt and pepper soft shell crab is amazing as is the crispy pork. Really enjoyed all the food here. The boss is friendly and regularly comes out to check that everything is going well and to have a chat. Prices are fair or even cheap for the deliciousness of the food. My favourite Malaysian restaurant in Sydney.
Overall: 4.5/10. Food: 5/10. Service: 3/10. Atmosphere: 3.5/10. Chicken Laksa is recommended and the best dish I've had here. Moist chicken, creamy-spicy broth. But I rate Jimmy's Recipe in the CBD higher. Not a fan of the other dishes and service leaves a lot to be desired. I recommend take away but make sure you call ahead.
It's surprisingly tough to find authentic Malaysian cuisine in Sydney, but as far as I'm concerned Petaling Street is the real deal. My favourite is the hawker style dry noodles with roast chicken. It's just so good! The portion is large enough to feed two people, but somehow i manage to finish it all by myself every time... it's tough to share something this delicious.
If I had to judge the authenticity of the food by the spiciness, this was up there. Overall it was very tasty and had that kick. It might even be too spicy for some compared to Mamak and Pappa Rich. Service is quick and efficient. Full review on my blog.
The food is mostly pretty good, but staff are not very well trained and the toilets are awful. Make sure you go before you arrive - soap dispenser and hand dryer both broken and no towels to dry hands. Cleanliness similar to your typical south east asian restroom.
Their food is delicious and prices are very reasonable. When we asked make laksa with just only rice vermicelli, they did it kindly. This is helpful for gluten intolerant people. Highly recommended.
Really great service and fast. The food is delicious, and they're very friendly. The nasi lamak is OK, could have more sides. The egg rice is really yum here. Roti's aren't too bad either.
I visited Petaling Street in Kingsford last Saturday night and was really looking forward to some of my favourite Malaysian treats. The serving sizes were generous - much more so than the photos on the walls around the place showed - which resulted in us overordering lol - however the food was a bit hit and miss. The Mutton curry was delicious as were the chicken wings but the CKT and the Roti and the Nasi Lemak were disappointing.
Although named after the famed tourist attraction famous for its assortment of classic Malaysian food, it ultimately fails to deliver with its attempts to reproduce classic Malaysian dishes. Patronize Petaling Street if you can appreciate generic but scrumptious south-east asian cuisine but, with fair warning, do not do so with expectations of authenticity.
