Disgusting place. Cheap version of a Zamboni doesn't cut the ice properly. Change rooms reek to high hell everyone in the change room on the weekend was complaining about it and has mold growing in them. Not to mention they haven't been cleaned in god knows how long, definitely not done on a daily basis as advised by the owner, I have photos to prove this.nKitchen totally defies HACCP food safety legislation with cracked and dirty floors.nMen's toilet has a rusted out pipe on one of the urinals and instead of fixing it owner has just put a bucket under it to collect the urine.nnThe only reason you get the hockey games is because cockburn is fully booked up.nnYou should be ashamed of how you run this place and how you treat people.nnMaybe try taking some of the criticisms and work towards making the place better instead of just pointing back at the people complaining, like nothing is your fault.nnThe place is an actual health risk.
Since the day I watched my first Perth Thunder game there, Perth Ice Arena has had a special place in my heart. Today, I went skating for the first time in over 26 years. I loved it, though it took me almost the entire session to get into it again. Wanna go regularly from now on. The staff were all friendly, the cafe food is really good, and there are many free-to-use zimmer frames for beginners. I'm not used to the new type of rental skates, though, because I used to have my own and 652 years ago when I skated regularly, renting at first, they weren't this hard kind with buckles. It will take some getting used to until I get my own again. Still, I had a blast and can't wait to go again!! If you feel like spending a couple of hours having icy fun with friends, I highly recommend a visit.
Not too sure why this place has so many poor reviewsnnI went here today just to check out the ice rink as i moved house and cockburn was no longer a viable place for me to travel to, this one is the closest for me now.nThe rink isn’t actually as bad as people make it out to be, sure the ice is a little bit bumpy most likely from hockey skaters who seem to play here somewhat often however it really isn’t that bad.nnI enjoy how it’s not extremely packed, cockburn is always packed nearly all the time so it was definitely something new for me.nThe front desk guy was chill, just doing his job and waiting for people who need assistance, just go and ask.nnThe toilets fem toilets smelled nice like someone cared to spray some stuff, yeah the toilets seem old but what can you do reallynnAll this place needs is just a little bit better or new benches, toilets, refurbish some stuff around and about and it’ll be fine. Perchance a better zamboni? Since the ice does have a little bit of deep cuts.nnIf you want super soft and flat ice go to cockburn however I cant promise you’ll have a peaceful skate without tripping over kidsnnI will definitely be coming here weekly, i recommend for people who already figure skate as a hobby. Beginners or pro
Have been coming here for several years to watch the ice hockey.nnEvery aspect of this building is so rundown that it’s laughable. This arena represents Perth not only on a national level, but internationally too. From the disgusting bathrooms, mold on the plexi panels, leaks, the filth build up in every nook and cranny etc. it’s frankly embarrassing and likely a health hazard. I’ve held off on a negative review for years due to the staff in the café always being polite and great to deal with.nnToday’s game however was a step too far. PIA has a dedicated wheel chair access viewing point. This is great, as I believe everybody regardless of age or ability should be able to enjoy the great sport of ice hockey. However, there was apparently a misunderstanding this evening when a gentleman in a wheelchair attempted to access the platform. I was standing up against the glass, and the gentleman and his assistant were behind/alongside me, unwittingly blocking me from being able to move out of their way for a moment. The old man who drives the Zamboni, was instantly up in my face yelling at me to move, swearing in front of women and young children. When I tried to explain I was boxed in between the glass and the wheelchair he physically pushed me. Again I’d like to make it clear that I fully support folks in wheelchairs being able to watch and every other week shuffle out of their way slightly if needed to make access a little easier for them There is never an excuse to assault someone however, especially if you are representing a company. I’ve read other reviews and have seen staff mistreat people in the past, but this has taken it to a completely new level and is a disgusting display of the lack of care, respect and basic decency one staff member in particular shows the public. Again, over an innocent misunderstanding.nnSurely in the off season PIA can invest in some improvements to the accessibility of the arena? Half of the area around the rink is unused. There is so much room for expansion, allowing for even more people of all abilities to watch and grow the sport. Investing in a cleaner or three is a must as well.nnWhilst I applaud PIA for allowing retirees to volunteer, people who are aggressive, physically assault people and swear in front of women and children, are not suitable for any customer service role especially one that appeals to our children.nnEdits:nn1 -nI can appreciate the impact that having so many fans in the facility at one time can have on a building's cleanliness, as well as pressures cleaning can put on staff. But as pictures in several other reviews clearly show - which is similar to what I've experienced here - cleanliness is not a top priority. The build up of grime along edges of walls, surfaces that have clearly not been wiped for some time etc.nnWhich leads to the topic of mold.nThe two panels in question at first had what seemed to be a drink splattered on them as it was sticky. Over the course of several weeks, this substance was not cleaned and eventually grew mold. To clarify, this substance/mold was on the spectator side of the panels, not the rink side and was completely different to puck marks.nnI really do hope my review will be used by management to help identify key areas for improvement.
Went there because my partner and I were interested in looking at the place to book with some friends. Unfortunately, the guy at the front counter was so grumpy that he didn't even come to talk to us, offer customer service, and explain how the place works. Just told us to leave the place that we go in because it was a private booking. Honestly, from all the other reviews, I can see his behaviour is always like that.nDefinitely didn't make us feel like coming back.
