I recently had the chance to visit Penang, Malaysia. and I was on the lookout for a great Penang restaurant in Melbourne. When I finally discovered this gem, I was beyond thrilled! Honestly, I think their food is even better than what I experienced in Penang.nn- Their Penang char koay teow is absolutely delicious—I could immediately smell that amazing wok flavor!n- The beef rendang is packed with flavor and has such a wonderful herby taste.n- Our absolute favorite has to be the char tang hoon; it’s cooked to perfection!nnThe only downside is that this place tends to get quite busy during lunch, so I think they could really benefit from expanding.nnI can’t wait to go back and try more of their amazing dishes!
A popular place for Malaysian cuisine. It has a great combination of delicious food at a reasonable price, efficient and friendly service, a clean and bright environment. Highly recommend the fried fish head vermicelli in milky broth. The broth flavour is gentle but satisfying. The fried fish head is, oh so crispy! Pair it with some fresh red cut chilli and it brings the gastronomic experience to the next level. Try also the Penang Fried Kway Teow and Char Tang Hoon.
Not the first time to Penang Flavours. Most of the items are yummy. Today we had the Char Bee Tai Mak and the Butter Chicken with rice.nnI'm happy with my Char Bee Tai Mak. There's wok hei. Although I asked for mild spicy, it was still a little too spicy for me. Not a deal breaker though. I still enjoyed it. My fav items in the menu are Penang Char Kuay Teow, Char Tang Hoon, Assam laksa and Sat Hor Fun.nnAs for the butter chicken, hmmm... The chicken is separate from the sauce. So you get deep fried battered chicken fillet with the sauce. The sauce tasted too sweet for our liking. Not quite like the authentic butter chicken, but who orders butter chicken at a Chinese restaurant? Should have known better.... Lol... I wouldn't order this dish again next time. Also, I feel it's a bit pricey at $21.50, especially when the dish was disappointing. Wouldn't mind the price if it tasted good though.nnSo why 5 stars if we didn't like the butter chicken? It's cos we have been to Penang Flavours many times and we love all the other items in the menu. One bad dish shouldn't ruin the ratings.nnThe restaurant is usually busy during meal times so to avoid having to queue for a table, try going a bit earlier before meal times.
3rd time here, never failed amazing wok he yuan yang egg gravy hor fun kway Teow mixed with beehoon.nLove chilli - red cut, green cut & belachan.nThe fish head beehoon soup was tasty buy would prefer fish meat.nWanton mee char siew and noodles was ok, not big fan of the fried wantan, not as crispy & tasty.nIced & hot terek was good too.
Amazing food quality and presentation, which reminds me of the delicious food from Panang. The staff are so friendly courteous and helpful.
