Stock can be fairly disorganised. The forced 2 for 1 Buy one pair, get a pair free specials are over priced. Realistically you are paying for 2 pairs at a discounted price, which is a big problem if you only want to buy the one pair. Staff are friendly and helpful, but range of shoes is somewhat restricted if you are not interested in bright pink, purple, blue, orange and yellow colours.
I got there and found parking provided available. Then i started browsing the X-Trainers, and was approached twice by some assistants offering help. One of them "owned" me and made sure that i was looked after every time i looked confused, concerned or undecided. I ended up buying 2 pairs of X-Trainers as they had "buy one get one free" offer. The price per X-Trainer is high, but when you get the second pair "free" it makes it worth it. The place is a warehouse, don't expect beauty. But I can assure you it is functional! Very happy with my purchase!
Not happy at all, selected a pair of shoes from a $40 'sale' table - shoes had some marks on them, fair enough - the table said 'these shoes are marked or damaged'. Shoes had normal price tag removed and a hand-written sticker code put on them instead - makes sense for a discounted marked pair. Get to the front counter, get told by the boss standing behind the young lady on the register that the price is $169 for 2 pairs, instead of $40 for this pair. Protested they were on the damaged/marked table and were indeed marked in several places, got told "I can't control where customers put shoes. The price is $169 for 2 pairs". Went back to the table, there's many other pairs of the same shoe and same brand on the table as well - I think the guy just decided on the spot they weren't damaged enough for that big a discount and decided to chisel some extra cash. Stay away, this place is dodgy.
Serious manufacturing fault. Could not replace the shoes yet did not want to give a refund. Only gave refund after I showed them the law. The shoes could not be replaced but a pair available at homebush, asked for the order to be bought to the store and they did not contact me. They returned the shoes back to hombush. Should have taken 2-3days. Still waiting over a week later.
Large selection of quality products at low prices, although sometimes it's hard to find the right size for specific items. Some good deals offered in store buy 1, get 1 free, etc.. Staff were accessible and helpful.
Not sure how their "buy one get one free" works as far as the ACCC are concerned.. Its more like "buy one and get another pair for $30 extra! Anyway, good range of shoes. Prices ok, but staff surly, look miserable and reluctant to offer help.
Great bargains on sport shoes. Buy one get one free kind of deals. Lots of variety for kids, mens, womens. A regular go to for sports shoes!
Since the transition to Paul's USA Warehouse it's a bit of a mess. Prices aren't all that good for about 80% of the stock, although you might find a few good bargains. If I was to shop in this style of store, I think in the future I'd be inclined to go to TK Maxx. TK Maxx is without doubt a retail model Paul's need to pay closer attention to. The concept is more or less the same, but Paul's execution of it, is so far really quite terrible. All of their stores are like a disorganised jumble sales, the Canberra store has friendly and knowledgeable staff and that store is far more organised than the other two stores I've visited in Rockdale and Carlton NSW. In principle this new concept should be a huge success for them, in practice it's not a good retail experience for customers... Yet. I hope they can pull things together in time.
Great selection of sports clothes, shoes and gear. Look out for deals and specials. Parking on side of building. Paul's is opposite St George Leagues Club.
Good deals, i like their buy-one-get-one-free, they need more staff in busy hours, I bought football shoes in a very good price.
