It wasn't a bad school. I finished here about 6 years ago 2018. I was here for 3 years and all I can say was back then, it wasn't a very welcoming place to me when I started and it did feel kind of segregated with all the year levels not really being allowed to interact much which I found weird, but I got semi used to. I'm gonna be honest however, but I hope a lot of the teachers that are still at this school when I was there have now changed, because there was quite a few teachers who used to look down on me for being fat and I hope they no longer do that, but i'm grateful to know that the teacher who used to put me down and out me as a bully no longer works here anymore because, he held such anger in his eyes, I remember thinking he might hit me, when I made my friend cry on accident and this teacher made me out to be a bully, however it is in the past but the memory of that at this school still dawns on me every now and then because well I was a kid, but yeah. This school may be different now but I just wanted to share my experience at this school. I just beg that if you become a teacher or are a teacher that you don't bully kids for being kids, help them grow, but don't bully them and put them down, they don't know any better, you have to help teach them. But yeah this school gets a 3 because it was still just a neutral school environment, but this is only my opinion.
Pap West was the best I have ever been to, as a ex student I loved all 6 years of being here, all the teachers are very nice and respectful. they teach very understandably and it a whole feeling going back to pap west for a visit, I ten to tear up everytime I walk in the gates as an ex student, Idk if any1 may know her but MISS KING I LOVE YOU
I was a foundation pupil and started in primer one with a teacher called Miss Lloyd ..from memory. It is approaching 75 years since the school opened and I wonder if there is a planned celebration ?nA Mr. Kedgely was the head master back then ,and my mother ,Hazel Smith was the secretary . The school has a excellent community feel - teaching the students to grow up being respectful individuals, an important but difficult quality to gain these days for this techno-gadget generation. At the same time the school is working hard to increase academic levels overall - Keep up the good work Papatoetoe West your heading in the right direction.
I cannot begin to describe how amazing papatoetoe west primary school is. My son started his first year at PWPS from not knowing how to read and write to excelling in months , with the help dedication and also discipline of Mrs Loyd. My son gained so knowledge learnt so much on a daily it reflected on himself he became less of the shy boy and started coming out of his shell he went from level one reading to level 9 and progressing . They have fruits & Milk boxes given each day they really put a childs greatest interest at heart. Unfortunately we have now moved to Australia which was my biggest down fall was pulling him out of PWPS and I can tell you this now NOTHING compares or comes close to PWPS it's so different here in Australia and with the life i me it has been my biggest regret was pulling him out I wish I could have taken PWPS with me here to Australia. So I highly recommend Papatoetoe West Primary School you will not be disappointed.
