You cannot walk past this place if you love bagels like me. It looks unassuming on the outside, but once you spot its sign, you know what’s it all about. I had breakfast here, and when I walked in, I encountered bagels being made on the premises and a cabinet full of freshly made bagels. I was mesmerised watching them being made. No messing around with the usual breakfast fare, I went straight for the NYC with house-made pastrami. Everything about this bagel was made on the premises, and you can taste it. I picked up a salty dog and a seedy bagel that’s what I am calling them to go. Bagels = Yum. Freshly made bagels = Out of this world.
Came here for Breakfast, we got bacon n egg bagel & the papas Benny bagel. The staff were super friendly. Super delicious, worth the money and so you know, there is no easy and clean way of eating these I’ll 110% be coming back sometime soon.
Bagel lover should definitely visit!!! There are many different bagel choices which will surprise you. You can make your own combination or choose from their menu. We picked the Papas Benny. The ingredients were literally like exploding from the bread. One bagel was enough for two of us to share as breakfast. The bacon was a bit too salty but eating with other ingredients was fine.
Papa's bagel bar is the perfect place to get a coffee on weekends. The vibe and atmosphere is brilliant, letting off a cosy house vibe. The service was great in my experience, though I only got a caramel latte. The caramel latte was great, and was made quite quickly. I didn't order a bagel, but I saw that the bagels are made at the restaurant/cafe, and most of the ingredients are locally sourced. The bagels aren't cheap, but you get that money back from the freshness. Overall, this cafe was great, and I would definitely come back here another time.
Be very careful on Sunday’s 15% surcharge which is fine if the wait staff weren’t rude and dismissive and a 30 minute wait. Don’t expect your coffees and bagels to come out at the same time and expect everyone to be served before you. Not worth it. The cost of the items is definitely not worth the price. This is the size of a $5 hash brown for context. Also seating is not appropriate for people with disabilities. Be careful. Just go to another one of Newy’s great local establishments.
I was staying in Newcastle for my Kids’ sports tournament. On our way out for the day, I thought I’d pop into this place on the way to grab and go. I approached the Cafe on the lane way side and on the windows it had signs saying not verbatim ‘If you want to sit inside come in, or take away use our app’. I had a peek inside and it looked busy so I thought I’d order through the app. Ordered a Strawberry Bagel, Eggs Bene Bagel and a Plain bagel with a coffee and hot chocolate. My order went through around 10:05am After about 20 minutes of waiting, the lovely! barista looked at me and asked, “Hey what did you order? You’ve been here for a while.” I pulled up the receipt of the order and showed him, to which he said he couldn’t find the order.. Great! Ive been standing here for almost half an hour looking silly. He promptly grabbed another guy I assume maybe a manager or team lead? and I showed him the transaction and my bank statement of me being charged. He took a photo for proof which I understand! and said he would get to it. To my horror, I watched serveral people get served and their orders handed to them before me. I even saw an order that was exactly the same as mine be dished out to someone else who came after me also. I FINALLY GOT MY FOOD around 10:45am, 20+ minutes AFTER they knew about the issue.. The ONLY saving grace was that lovely barista brunette, curly hair with a brown?? Hat who profusely apologised and showed genuine concern through my time here. You are a gem mate I used to work in food service for roughly 15 years, including management so I give benefit of the doubt everywhere I go - sometimes a little too much. In this case, I am absolutely shocked that my order wasn’t prioritised. I understand sh*t happens - in this case it did and I can forgive that. But what I cannot forgive is whoever the guy is, who took over rectifying my order - put me LAST. I had to wait ANOTHER 20 minutes when I should’ve been the next one out. Not my fault it was as system error or yours, but do the right thing and prioritise the customer who had been waiting. I am a non confrontational person and due to my history in the industry I didnt want to cause a ruckus. Maybe I should’ve? Because this was a joke. Again, thank you to that barista - you made myself and my kids’ morning. The coffee and the hot chocolate were absolutely delicious! Parking: Because it's on a main street, parking immediately near the place is hard to get. Wheelchair accessibility: It's on the ground floor, access inside is okay though could be a bit cramped and there are tables outside
Delicious range of flavoured bagels with an assortment of fillings! Create your own or get a delicious Bacon & Egg Bagel or Eggs Benny Bagel! They’re big and they are packed!
Don‘t review anything usually but this bagel was too good to be true and the staff was super nice! Will come back!Recommended dishesCaramelised Onion, Smashed Avocado
A unique, mouthwatering bagel that’s definitely worth getting if you’re in Newcastle. Ordered the NYC for $19.5 Peppercorn Rubbed 12 Hour House Smoked Pastrami w/ Black Garlic Butter, Smashed Avocado, Rocket, Red Onion Jam and Fried Shallots Excellent and humble customer service. Highly recommend this place & can’t wait to come back to try the other different bagels.
Plenty of great bagels to choose from with a good selection of toppings, went here twice and it was the highlight of my trip to Newcastle. If you get one of the predesigned bagels just be ready for some mess! But that’s why there wipes on the table ; Would come back again!
