Pania of the reef is along the art deco walkway next to the Tom Parker water fountain. Has a plate with the tale behind the statue.
Beautiful place and to see so close. Comparing to The little mermaid in Copenhagen, Denmark
Heard a lot about it. It's known for being the most photographed statue on NZ. It did not disappoint. Plenty of parking available. Beach walk was also very nice.
The statue is located beside the Tom Parker Fountain. It is quite intricate and fairly big. The plaque was very interesting as it goes into the story of how Pania created the Reef around Napier. I was glad I came across this before heading to the National aquarium as there were a few references to Pania and I understood what it meant.
Napier district council have made the water front so user friendly. Kids are loving scooting around and exploring. Beautiful space. Great way to walk of a brunch!! Kapai!
