Love coming here. Good ticket price and . Super comfortable. It’s definitely better and cleaner than some of the other cinemas I’ve been to. I haven’t seen dry vomits on the seats.Food are expensive but that’s with every cinema so not big deal.
Fancy cinema, we were greeted nicely of the staff, we had high expectation knowing that the cinema is located in the middle of a posh area but when we went to our seats, we were surprised with DISAPPOINTMENT. Seats D-4 to D-8 were full of rubbish and used cheese platter / glasses from previous customers - we were extremely surprised by this, expecting its a nice cinema - but it seems like no one cleaned before another movie commence. Good area, but there are heaps of other nice movie house that is clean.
It was new experiences to watch movie at AU cinema. Suprisingly it was less seat compare to ID cinema. I guess people here prefer netflix...
Haven't been to Palace James Street since the before the upgrades. There is now seven Cinemas with the addition of 4 new ones above the entrance stairs on the left. They have also installed a lift on the left hand side, so if you requiring access it would be two lift journeys into separate lift now to access the upper four cinemas. One lift journey to access the original cinemas on the bar level which is up the first flight of stairs. The new cinemas are lovely. The seating is black leather with tables, cup holders, etc. Most of the cinemas are small 16 seater theatres with plenty of space and the chairs obviously have foot recliner operating by push buttons. I really like this Cinema centre in many ways. I probably don't give it 5 stars because of the difficulty to access parking, although there is a small amount at the back of the cinema. At busy times it's really difficult to get a park in this area and you really need to go along early. The upside is that there are bars and eateries around so you can catch up before after a movie. Also the other downside is there's not usually enough staff on behind the ticketing and bar service area. .....it's always a long wait to be served. I have found this each time I have visited this Cinema complex over the years and I don't often attend at peak times. This visit I was in one of the new Cinemas upstairs and it was very clean and comfortable. It was not too cold in the air conditioning. All up a very pleasant visit.
I enjoy the boutique ambience of the cinema and the location. The selection of food and beverages is also a nice addition to the experience. However, the last few movies I have seen here over the past year have been disappointing. This is due to the fact that the screen brightness is always so dark that the screen often turns completely black when it is playing a night scene. It’s rather frustrating to watch as you can not see anything. If it is a movie that has many of its scenes shot at night, you pretty much miss half the movie and it’s like listening to an audio version of it. If there is a way Palace on James can alter this I’d be happy to give 5 stars. I do not find that the Palace on Caxton has this issue.
Nice seats, good movies, wonderful screens. However I want to get to the hard hitting question, how was the popcorn? It was sadly disappointing. Luke warm and in a tub smaller than a coke for $6. I finished it before the movie started. Also parking is a joke. There are about 10 parking spots, come on mate.
Comfy seats, the usual expensive snacks & drinks. Low star rating is for having signs up saying our session was cancelled, when it had only been booked online an hour before. It wasn't cancelled, but why the sign?
A cinema without popcorn !!! We literally waited 25min to get popcorn, had to leave the theater 3 times to get a super salty popcorn. It also felt like a freezer inside the building. So bring a blanket when you visit.
Great cinema, great service. A must cinema to go and watch a movie and get a bite to eat before or after the movie.
Feels like an old fashioned intimate cinema. Always a good programme too
