Paddington Uniting Church

About

A Christian community pursuing faith, inclusiveness, justice and creativity.

Story

Paddington Unitng Church (PUC) is a Christian parish mission that seeks to embody faith, inclusiveness, justice and creativity in our life and work. As well as fostering a community of Christian discipleship, the church runs a range of community programs including the Paddington Markets, Eastside Arts, Eddie Dixon Centre and the Paddington Children's Centre.

Mission

We are a community of people who gather to worship God and explore our Christian faith in a critical manner relevant to our context. Conscious of the particular challenges involved in witnessing to the life of Jesus Christ in the inner city of Sydney we seek to shape our lives in the following ways.

We seek to be an open and welcoming community of all people, especially those marginalized in our society due to their sexual orientation, gender, race, age, poverty and mental or emotional well being. We look for the full participation of all people in the life of the Church.

We are committed to working for justice, particularly with those who are marginalized in the inner city, such as people without homes of those left in poverty, aboriginal people and those who suffer racial prejudice.

We seek to actively explore the resources offered through all forms of human creativity, particularly as expressed in the arts, in support of our faith and mission.

Beautiful jacaranda around the street and church, its attractive and long-lasting violet-colored flowers.
It'' a VERY small Sunday service, with the congregation sitting in a circle and taking turns reading from the liturgy. No singing of hymns today there seems to be a schedule of which Sunday there will be singing. There was a sermon of sorts. They congregation is very welcoming and warm. If one is used to a traditional church with hymns and music and a sermon by a priest in the pulpit, this will be ..... different. My best takeaway from the experience is to cherish the the traditional church-going experience while you can, because it is disappearing.
A “progressive Church” that celebrates sin with gay pride.
If you are a progressive Christian, this parish could serve you well! There is room for all people, people of different faiths, different sexualities, different economic status.. Whilst no Parish is perfect & Parish is for everyone, when im at this church i can see I can feel God's love!
Great church for this day and age. If you want a place with no judgement whatsoever. This is the place for you. After all, only god can judge us, we should never cast ANY stones.
A quiet church with a small congregation. Welcoming & peaceful.
inclusive and campassionate place tackling real issues
