I stayed at this hostel over the weekend in Sydney and had a really positive experience. The place is very clean and well organized, and both the rooms and common areas are maintained to a high standard. The bathrooms and kitchen were spotless, which makes a big difference in a shared space.nnThe check-in and check-out process was very easy through the app, and booking was done through a third-party platform. Even with high occupancy that weekend due to multiple events in the city, the price we booked was fully respected. That said, it may be worth checking their direct website, as it can sometimes be cheaper to book there.nnOverall, it’s a great option for an expensive city like Sydney if you’re looking for a pleasant, well-located place to stay. It’s only about a 5-minute walk to St James railway station, which makes getting around very convenient.nnHighly recommended for a comfortable and practical stay.
This is a very good hostel, and I got it for a great price.nnLocationnIt is very close to Hyde Park and St. Mary’s Cathedral. Since I don’t mind walking, it’s also a 30-minute walk to Circular Quay and the Opera House. There are nearby Woolworths grocery store, cafes, and bakeries.nnCleanlinessnThe rooms are clean, and the common kitchen and other areas are very well maintained. One small suggestion: the frequency of cleaning for the shower area should be increased, but it’s still acceptable.nnHostel Vibe Including CrewsnThey’ve created a strong sense of community. In fact, this is one of the few hostels where you’ll be excited to return early because they offer free daily activities running club, movie night, wine and cheese, picnic day, etc. that allow you to meet people. It’s fun, and did I mention it’s free? The crews are very friendly and helpful, always smiling.nnSafetynThey have excellent emergency preparedness procedures, so I felt very safe. The location of the hostel is also very quiet.nnAmenitiesnThey have laundry area. Clothing iron is very accessible.
Had a great experience at the hostel! Was really sociable with plenty of events offered. Really good location, easy to get around to most places. The lockers in the room were so useful, a helpful unique feature not seen in many other hostels. Free breakfast was also nice!
I had been recommended to stay here by a family member and I am glad I did.nnThe location was fantastic. The showers and bathrooms were great and I did not have to wait in line for them. The free breakfast was yum.nnI was most impressed by the excellent customer service I received when I asked to be moved rooms, after an unpleasant interaction with someone in my first room.nThe Italian staff member who helped me was kind and understanding and helped me to quickly change rooms, where I was grateful to stay for the remaining two nights of my trip.nnThank you, Pacific House Hostel!
Can’t fault the location or the value for money but was slightly disappointed about the room 6-bed mixed and the quality of the beds. I stayed at the end of February so far from the hottest month and the little flimsy ceiling fan was for show only and didn’t do much. The beds are creaking and noisy when people climb in and out which more or less wake up the entire room. My lamp and charger port was broken when I checked in but even after 8 days of having reported it no one came to fix it.nnThe staff at reception was so so, clearly just working there to get free or reduced cost accommodation and didn’t do much in terms of telling me where things were and how things worked so that was left up to myself.nnThe main reason for the low score was the constant smell of weed outside the property and constant noise from door dash riders leaving. Seeing staff members or young people wearing branded Pacific House t-shirts smoking spliffs is just unprofessional and having worked in hospitality myself also in Sydney for many many years this would not be tolerated anywhere else..
