Location is excellent. Personally better than the city centre.so much great food around, shopping, stores, convenience, etc. Check on was smooth, lobby has great atmosphere, restaurant for brekky was A1, room was a little constrictive but manageable, shower was epic on size, train station is very close & tram stops outside. I rate 8.5/10. Nothings perfect but it's getting close.
Great location, close to restaurants and tram stops. Friendly staff, love the decor at the lobby! Neat room, comfy bed, but on the small side indeed. I was traveling by myself and only carried a small backpack, imagine it'd be tricky with more people or bigger luggage.
Most amazing hotel stay ever. So many thoughtful, cool details and my teenager loved it. Free minibar, snacks, candy bar and the most incredible breakfast. Plus the staff were so helpful and friendly. Can't wait to come back.
I have stayed at Laneways Ovolo & ovolo Woolloomooloo and had exceptional experiences. You will see here that this Ovolo has high reviews but I think you will see some pretty unhappy regulars soon. In this block in South yarra you have many hotels. Como, Cosmo, art series, and Royce close by. People choose Ovolo due to the fun perks. Lollies, free mini bar, great breakfast. We had booked this room for those reasons and location. We booked this room months ago and paid higher than some of the rates they are currently advertising. All of these perks were included at the time of our booking. We arrived at checkin to find that there was no mini bar in the room at all and it was not included anymore. Even though when we did book it was included. They did not honour this. We paid extra per person for breakfast and were offered four options with no extras or drinks. Our checkin was extremely lack lustre. The room is tiny. But the bed and pillows were comfy. The bathroom towels are excellent. Amy at breakfast was excellent. The red headed lady who was the host of the bar/restaurant was very good.The gentleman in the bar who looks after wine had a lovely disposition. Sadly I cannot refer to them by name as no one had name tags. This in itself is quite bizarre for a hotel. I would say there is a definite attitude that several of the staff thought they were too cool for school and a lot of talking amongst eachother while your clients wait. The two occasions we went to the bar we waited past 30 minutes for our drinks and it wasn't busy. In the restaurant at breakfast it was clear people were not happy. Everyone was on different rates and breakfasts and being told different things. Even though this is a cute funky boutique hotel in a great location, sadly what we purchased was not honoured. Roberta if you changed your policies as of June 11 everyone prior to that should be honoured for what they purchased.
We enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Ovolo. We had to move rooms due to a faulty blind which was seamless and not stressful. The room which was the same category- groovy however was a little smaller than the original room but still comfortable. The free mini bar and candy bar were definitely a treat and we took advantage of social hour 5-6pm with 1 free drink per person which was another great experience. Loved the funky music and vibe and the staff seemed all very happy and cheery. We enjoyed great service our whole stay. Car parking was easy also and the hotel is close to public transport either by tram or train. Will stay again.
