Aside from the continuous queues, there is absolutely nothing negative to say about OTB. Their burgers especially chicken and fish are my go-to's. I wasn't and still not the biggest fan of beetroot, but the combination of that pair with crunchiness of both the carrots and greens balances everything out and makes for one of those burgers where you don't feel greasy and your arteries aren't clogged. As a fish and chips shop, they also serve up some pretty damn good spuds with a good dose of chicken salt - they are very generous with their portion sizes.
Went around 12pm and was surprised there was no queue. Friendly staff. The hoki fish was firm and lightly battered, and tasted really good. Fries tasted amazing with the chicken salt, and the portion is generous for the price. Will definitely visit again
The Julien’s famous fish burger was quite tasty which is why I came to try out the place. Also tried Remi’s famous chicken burger but didn’t quite like that. Best advice when you go to a fish and chips place is to just order fish. The Hoki fish was nice but I think the grilled option would’ve been a better choice. Also had the tassie scallops, calamari rings, prawn cutlets and seafood sticks. Those were good and with the in-house tartar sauce even better. Be mindful of the 30-40 minute wait when they’re busy. Went there on a Sunday night around 7pm and they were still quite busy.
One of the most delicious fish n chips place I’ve ever been to. Their food is worth the drive and 20 minutes wait. Grilled Hake was so juicy and flavourful. The fish burger is also a must-try at this local gem. Who knows a fried egg can go so well with this fish burger ?! Fish batter is light and still quite crunchy even after a 10 mins walk to the beach. I recommend trying their famous fish burgers which was deliciously balanced and great portion. However sometimes the chips and calamaris could taste too oily.
Food here is delicious, just be ready for a bit of a wait. Deep fried camembert is super generous and from memory the breading/batter is perfect. Unfortunately they're closed at the moment and don't look like they'll be open until 19th Oct, despite what their google hours say. Disappointed because we drove out of way to get here. Will probably change to 5 stars if they change Google hours or reopen again.
Quite a long wait. Wasn’t sure if burger shop or fish and chip shop. Should of ordered a burger as they were pumping them out very fast. Chips fresh and crispy. Calamari didn’t appear to be freshly made in store. However all tasted good. Friendly staff and given realistic wait times so we knew what we were in for
Me and my wife used to live on mount street nearby so coming back is a treat and brings memories. Still great. In fact the chicken burger and grilled fish are the standard by which all others should be judged. Chicken, salad w carrot, bun and herb mayo sauce sounds normaltown but it's not. Your taste receivers lodge an entry in your subconscious that makes you happy to return and queue on a loop.
The wait was 45min after we ordered a burger and fish and chips... there was a lot of people that night though. The burger was fantastic, def worth the wait! The fish was great too, the chips didnt look or taste that fresh for some reason... the potato scallops and pineapple fritters were yum!! Impartially, the wait killed the vibe but the food saved the day? Happy to give it another try now knowing what the expected wait time is : Did i say the burger was fantastic? It was awesomeeee.
Out of the Blue Clovelly is a popular and well know local and has been here for years. The food is good quality and reasonably priced. The burgers are very popular and there are some other snacks that are unique items on the menu. This fish and chip shop is takeaway only and comes with some ups and downs. On the upside it’s location is good, The food is good quality, very handy is a super market next door and a bottle shop across the road. On the downside. This shop gets VERY busy in the weekends with lots of customers ordering over the phone or online. As a result the waiting times are long and regularly exceed more than 30min which is long for fish&chips. The staff is not that friendly either. Check the opening day’s and times. Even while the food is good and above average. The long queues and waiting times are not worth the hassle.
We went here because of the reputation. However standards are now very low. Fish batter was soggy, meaning the oil is not hot enough. Potato scallops were hard, almost raw. Chips rubbery, not at all nice. Threw most of this away, this shop might have been good once, but appears to have deteriorated badly.
