She was able to accommodate a fit and teach session on the same day saving me an extra appointment when I expressed my interest in contact lenses! Very impressed and happy with my contacts. I would like to share my experience at Coburg OPSM. A few weeks ago I came in to get my eye looked at as it was very sore and blood shot. I had Louise as my optometrist on the day and she was very friendly and compassionate and she understood my situation which I appreciated a lot. However I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration I had during my appointment with rayan. As a legally blind individual, I rely heavily on the expertise and understanding of healthcare professionals to navigate through routine eye examinations. However, my encounter with rayan left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. Throughout the appointment, I felt a palpable sense of frustration emanating from her. Despite my best efforts to cooperate and communicate my difficulties, she displayed a lack of patience and empathy. Her repeated insistence for me to "open my eye" disregarded the challenges I face due to my visual impairment. Instead of offering support or guidance, her demeanor only added to my discomfort. It is deeply disheartening to encounter such dismissive behavior from a healthcare provider, especially in a field as critical as optometry. As a patient, I expect to be treated with respect, understanding, and professionalism. Unfortunately, rayan failed to meet these basic standards during our interaction. Had an amazing experience today with the optometrist Sam Stephenson. Super considerate and funny, made the experience a lot more bearable! His coworker was also fabulous and they both were very patient when I was trying to find my first pair of glasses. I highly recommend them for their service & support throughout the whole experience! The only issue may be that they have a small range of glasses but the team offered alternate shops that were bigger and nearby that I could go to and didn’t make me feel pressured to buy anything :
Really lovely experience, fast and thorough service. The receptionist was also fantastic, and helped me with choosing a frame, her name began with M. Would definitely recommend for the great service. The optometrist gave good advice for eye care as well.
I have been to and had quite some lengthy and exhausting disputes with a few other OPSM stores around Melbourne. Quite by chance I happened across OPSM Coburg, what a difference! I purchased 3 sets of prescription glasses through them for two people, they made them quickly, were polite about it with an old world charm that is hard to find these days, and the glasses were perfectly made. I highly recommend this little OPSM shop.
I get my eye-contacts from here & have been from day one delighted with the service. It originally took me a while to find eye-contacts which were comfortable to wear yet they were so patient & eventually we found a solution for me. Alan is also a consummate friendly professional. If you're a Northside local & need eye-contacts, support this local business & enjoy a top service.
The eye test was great and the service was lovely, but they have a relatively small range of glasses and they are mostly very expensive. So if you're conscious of your budget, you might consider getting your eye test done there but taking your script somewhere else.
The largest glass making company in the world that has pushed every independent business out of the market with shady business practices cannot make a simple pair of lenses in 3 weeks. If you can find a business not affiliated with them don't go near OPSM
