I have been to Ooomph multiple times, and it's a frustrating experience, as this cafe has SO much potential. The decor gives off a boho-industrial vibe, with hanging plants, comfy couches, cool artwork and an open plan setting which gives customers visual access to the back of house and kitchen areas. The food and coffee is also top-notch. Unfortunately, it's not being maintained as it should. The hanging plants are dying, the back of house storage area directly next to the dining tables is full of haphazardly stacked boxes with loaves of bread thrown into the mix which has an unsightly/unsanitary appearance. The customer service is also lacking - the staff are always more interested in talking to each other than delivering anything other than blunt service, which can borderline on rude depending on who'se on the register. A pity - in the right hands this could be a real hidden gem on the coast.
Unfortunately I’ll be agreeing with the low reviews as of late. Used to be the best toastie on the coast but what I managed to receive was completely burnt bread on the outside and stone cold ham on the inside after a 20 minute wait. How does this even happen? They also completely forgot the other toastie. In fairness the lady behind the counter took over the disgruntled chef when asked for another one but it was still dry and burnt…Won’t be coming back.
Really good coffee, cool industrial space, generous portions and well priced. We got the falafel burger and the chicken BLAAT burger.
On a trip to the Central Coast, we do a bit of research to find a spot to have lunch. Ooomph has some good reviews and their IG show cases amazing pics of their patisserie goods and breads, so we decide to stop off there in East Gosford. The cafe is found down a back lane way in a converted concrete garage with exposed brick walls. The cafe is rustic, large in size, with antique chairs and wood tables, as well as some hanging plants. The outside feels a bit overgrown and could do with a bit of gardening work or plant watering. The menu is stuck to the wall and they have all day breakfast and lunch options, mostly salads, smoothie bowls and salads which suits us fine. I order the Vegan bowl, and add chicken. Whilst it might just sound like kale and quinoa, each part of the dish was delicious, nicely seasoned ingredients and the pumpkin in particular was marinated beautifully. Topped with a house hummus and some sauerkraut. I wanted some spelt bread to go with it, but they had sold out. We also ordered a cheeseburger, nice flavours with gherkin, pickled onions and topped with tomato sauce, Dijon mustard and melted Red Leicester cheese. Grass fed beef, although the meat was a tad over cooked. You can grab a side of fries if preferred. We really enjoyed our coffee, they’re now using Stitch blend, one of our faves. We found it a little odd that everything was in takeaway cups or boxes, but when the staff were eating their lunch, they had proper plates and cutlery. We were there around 1pm and all the pastries had sold out, so you’d need to get there early for that. The food is good and certainly reasonably priced.
A cool cafe with a nice variety of healthy options. The sizes were good too. Good price and service. My table had the vegetarian burger on sour dough although the normal bun would have been better as the sourdough was a little dry. Yum tho. We also had the build your own lunch...good size and flavour. The chai latte was delish! We ended with 2 muffins which were also a lovely day to end. I'd go again :
This place used to be my goto place on weekends but my last experience was terrible! Starting from the atmosphere, nothing has left from the old place! all the beautiful plants and decoration are gone! It took more than 25 min to get the breakfast and the cafe was almost empty 5,6 ppl which should have been my first clue since the place used to be packed!. The food came in disposable food tray and plastic cutlery!!! The BF comes without toast and they charge $1 if you order it with the food and $4 if you order it separately! I have waited a long time for the toast and after 15 min they came back with $4 and said we can't make the toast on time for your breakfast!!! With lots of good cafes around Gosford there is no reason to go there again! Stop blaming everything on Covid!
A very cosy and laid back place. Good food & pastries. Have been there twice, no complaints.
The coffee is good 7/10. The food was ok. We were told that it would take 45 min for food. After being in the hospitality game for over 35 years myself, that means that the cook or chef have their limits Anyway, we asked for my partners chorizo to be cooked more but we got the same uncooked chorizo after miraculously getting the plate sent back to us after 1 min. I guess we didn’t have to wait another 45 min. That was a relief. The staff were under pressure and that’s understandable. It was busy. However they lack basic social skills. It’s a nice cafe with good atmosphere but that’s about it. I’m sure we won’t be back anytime soon.
Hipster concrete garage setting with brick wall murals, sell organic produce as well .Self serve water and cutlery, order at counter. Single waitress seemed overwhelmed with the crowd there. Food delish and reasonably priced. They make all there own bakery goods. The white choc cheesecake was on a shortbread base and light soooo yum as was the sourdough i had with the breakky bowl. All day breakfast menu. Free parking nearby. Extra outdoor seating in the alley. We went as a family of 4 and everyone liked there drinks meal and dessert very much . I had the green smoothie with my breakky bowl which was vegetablr based with unusual but yum additions of quinoa salad, pink sauerkraut, others had the chicken burgers of different types on brioche style buns.
Found this place on Google under pet friendly cafes. Upon arriving I was told my dog was not welcome. The food however was great. As the photo my partner has taken shows. The burgers I ordered were great, if a little small. However my partner ordered more bacon and didn't receive it. Upon questioning the bacon, we were told they would check the ticket. I'm sorry but treating the customers like we are dishonest is kind of a let down. However more bacon came very quickly. Also paying an extra 7 dollars for 2 pieces of toast is a joke.
