My friends and I visited the Marrickville gym recently, genuinely interested in trying the place out. When we arrived, we let the staff know we were new and wanted to do a casual session. One staff member told us, “No worries, we just need to do a health and safety briefing—have a seat.” So we waited.nThen another staff member approached and asked what we were there for despite it being fairly obvious. We explained again that we just wanted to try the gym, but were then told that because it was 25 minutes before closing, we couldn’t be let in and would need an appointment.nWe asked if we could do a once-off casual entry, and were again told no, due to the safety briefing requirement—which no one seemed willing to do, even though there were still 25 minutes left before close.nTo make matters worse, one of my friends had been allowed in the previous day without an appointment, so the inconsistency was frustrating.nIt came across as a case of multiple staff members not wanting to do the paperwork or take a few minutes to help out new visitors. For a gym trying to market itself as premium the customer service seriously missed the mark.nWon’t be coming back.
One Playground Marrickville is hands down one of the best gyms I’ve been to! The atmosphere is energetic, welcoming, and truly motivating. The facilities are top-notch, and there’s a great sense of community that makes working out feel like a treat rather than a chore.nnA special shoutout to Xenia, who was absolutely fantastic. She was incredibly kind, accommodating, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Her friendly and professional approach made my experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re new to the gym or a regular, Xenia goes above and beyond to ensure you feel supported and comfortable.
The gym is very crowded, and you must share equipment with everyone, including those in the PTS. The classes are good, but they tend to get fully booked, and when you request additional spin classes, they don’t seem to accommodate those requests. It’s very convenient for me to attend from my house, but I would prefer it if they offered the option to attend classes only.
I was signed up for a paid personal training package due to a miscommunication with a staff member. I thought I was only getting two free sessions bc i took my friends n also I didn’t use 2 free sessions that comes with free trial at the beginning , but later found out I had been fully enrolled. After realizing the mistake, I spoke with staff and canceled, filling out the proper form.nMonths later, I discovered that PT sessions had continued to be charged five times $800. I was told I might get a refund, but no one followed up. No emails, no calls.nEventually, I received a partial refund, with $89 withheld again, with zero explanation. All of this was due to their mistake, not mine.nTerrible communication and handling. And the whole process has been incredibly stressful for me Thank you for the excellent customer service :

Upon arrival, one of the trainers Xenia, I believe her name was explained to me how my habits, wellbeing and overall quality of life could be changed, simply by signing on the dotted line.nSo bewitched was I by her shrewd and sagacious sales pitch that I signed up for a full year of gym membership classes included, obviously without a moments hesitation and have not looked back since.nnNow, two days after signing up, I have gotten down to
