Charming captivating and curious We have been here many times when we stayed at Berrima and on our way from Sydney to Canberra. Whether it’s breakfast, coffee and cakes or lunch all good. Run by charming people a little eccentric which is perfectly match to the interesting interior of the cafe which is full of antique furniture and paintings. Tables set with white table cloths and lovely china. Recommend the omelettes, spicy beef salad and pastries. Utterly charming and absolutely a must visit, booking essential for lunch on the weekend. Beautiful cafe with magnificent food. A feast for the eyes and nose as well as the mouth. Very attentive staff: will ask if they can help as soon as you come in. Fast service. Indoor and outdoor seating. Variety of table sizes: sit by yourself or your whole family/group. Period building beautifully modernised inside. Fastidiously clean. Proper white tablecloths. Also sells preserves, syrups, chocolates, lollies, tins of biscuits, etc. 2 adorable cats sitting patiently outside for pats. I didn’t see a menu or prices, but my flat white and cake was $19.10, which seems rather overpriced.
Great service and food. A cozy little cafe with a fireplace and a beautiful cakes display. Prices are more than what you would normally pay but the food is exceptional. The chicken and leek pie was fab. Hot chocolate hit the spot and the cakes were pretty good too.
We got the garlic bread as an entree. The bread was crispy and was garlicky and buttery. The chicken pie was delightful and the mash was nice. The steak sandwich was ok, the meat could have been more tender. The duck pie wasn’t great. It was soggy and packed in flavour. The price of the food is way too high as each main dish costed more than $30, most of which were just average.
The food here is always amazing quality and so delicious. We really enjoyed the chicken pot pie and pasta. Decided to stay for a pot of tea and cake, as the woodfire smell and aesthetic of the cafè is so comforting. I always try to come here when in the area.
Not a pleasant experience. The service 2 older ladies very rude. Only the young waitress had any manners. The Cafe was not clean. We were not allowed to sit where we wanted to even though it was not busy. We were shown to a table right by the cafe door entrance not exactly the best with Covid being rife at the moment and people coming in & out. We were certainly not going to sit there so had to sit outside on a table with stains on and crumbs see photo. We only ordered 2 cappuccino and a hot chocolate no food. The drinks took forever to arrive, in the meantime I noticed a couple fed up with waiting leave their table. I really wished we had done the same but we had already placed the drinks order. When the coffee arrived it was weak not hot and as for the hot chocolate it looked pretty good but tasted so weak like Luke warm milk. The crockery was not that clean to me. I then saw one of the waitresses put a clean tablecloth over a used one. This place felt like a tourist trap. No worth a visit. I personally do not recommend this place.
Service is excellent. This is a charming place. Highly recommend anything pie related, especially the duck pie with warm pear and raspberry salad.
A quaint Cafe in Berrima. Just a delight to visit. Lovely staff very friendly. The place has an old world atmosphere. Breakfast was generous and well presented, very enjoyable would come again.
The food is ok, the old lady who’s in charge at the cashier who served us was very rude. I found it as a racists!! I asked her question but she responded with not nice. Instead of being friendly and helpful but she wasn’t Coming all the way from sydney but I’m not impressed with the service and an attitude. Whoever the lady was, you shouldn’t be rude to people and racist. I paid so much money only for the salad. And you know what?? These days to keep the business going is hard due to the corona virus etc, you should be grateful for each one of the customer who came to your restaurant and you should treat them equal and with respect, I won’t recommend this place. Other place in the town they’re more friendly and reasonable price.
Mu husband, 11 year old son and myself visited this quaint, old world Cafe for breakfast during a short trip through the area. Our experience was good and we found no fault with the service or food. After unsatisfactory meals the previous day from other establishments it was refreshing to have a lovely meal! The eggs Benny with smoked salmon was delicious and definitely a treat. My son is fussy and couldn't decide on anything on the menu so I asked could he have bacon on toast and the older lady was more than obliging. We paid a higher price than what we usually would but we rarely travel so this was a treat for us and we were happy to pay. Also happy to pay a higher price for enjoyable food.
