Get the All-You-Can-Eat menu! It's such good value. For less than $40 per person you can get beautifully presented, fresh and delicious sushi, sashimi and other Japanese food. Everything we had was wonderful. We got the plum wine too, but through bitter experience discovered that you're not meant to eat the salty AF dried plum the bottom of the glass. I recommend the takoyaki, the salmon sushi plate and the karage chicken. Also, if you leave more than 200 grams of food they will charge you for the leftovers! Warning to all those with eyes bigger than their bellies.
Fast, clean, tasty and fresh! Really nice and patient staff! Recommend 100000 times with million stars! Definitely come back every week! Btw you must try plum wine!
When you go to a all you can eat restaurant sometimes a little hard to control your urges. When the food is as tastie as it was, it is really worth it, if you haven't eaten at one of the many Okamis around Melbourne do your self a favour book in and enjoy the evening.
This was my first ever Japanese restaurant I dined in at celebrating a mates party and the service as well as fhe food of the place was exceptional. We all got the All You can Eat for 38.50 per person and we were all able to eat as much as we want until full. Overall, great first experience will definitely be back!
First time trying this restaurant and unfortunately wasn’t as good as I expected after reading the reviews. Service was ok and the all you can eat is catchy however food wasn’t great. The chicken skewers had an unpleasant boiled taste, chicken curry sauce was terrible and runny, the beef udon noodle was very slimy and vegetables missing. The rice in the sushi was mushy and very tiny stuffing. Overall the flavours weren’t very nice. We mentioned food wasn’t great when we were asked how the food was and the guy at the register didn’t really care and ignored the response.
Dinner for 4 on a Friday where we wanted to order off menu and not the all you can eat. However we were given only the latter menus and had 3 staff within 5 minutes ask us are we ready to order. It was only when the table finally figured out their meals and I asked why no prices on menu when I was told we had the wrong menu and waitperson returned with correct menus and we started again. The nigiri was good, salmon miso a bit watery but cooked ok. The teriyaki steak was tough and mostly inedible. Clearly if you want quality Japanese and a less chain-based gluttonous approach maybe go elsewhere, e.g., across the road to Matsuya.
Food was ok. Incorrect food was delivered regularly and many items missed. Service a bit slow too. Not easy to order specific items and not all hand rolls available on the night. Better options available. Asked for no tuna and had it delivered twice.. Best part of the night was the huge portions of seaweed salad.
Good value all you can eat. Staff are polite and handle customers well.
I been to 3 okamis and this is by far the best in my opinion, they brought the food almost instantly. The staff were super attentive and helpful, and the food tasted amazing thank you for making it a great experience
Serving what could only be described as "Japanese looking food" , by what feels like a kitchen that only learned what Japanese food was by just looking at photos, to patrons whom seem to have no idea what real Japanese food is like. Yes there is food here, and it is edible, but that's about it. Absolutely zero authenticity. Matsuya is across the road, honestly just go there instead. Avoid this travesty.
