What an amazing place! Watching the penguins come in was fantastic and made all the better by the ban on photos/videos which meant everyone silently watched the penguins jump up the rocks. They also tell you a lot about the penguins and the centre is just fantastic. Can recommend the premium seats, book beforehand and get there early (8pm in January) to get the front row. Great work!

Great place to watch penguins! You’ll need to get there early in order to get a good seat. Paying for the premium seats only gets specified seats. You can get the same view, if not better, from the standard seating. You aren’t able to take photos but before the penguins arrived there were plenty of other wildlife such as NZ fur seals.

Cute little penguins! But I don’t really like how the venue is set up. The “stage” is super exposed and the behaviour of some animals shows they are quite afraid to cross it. There’s no bushes or rocks like there would naturally be. The penguins are forced to go through two little gaps in the fence to expose them exclusively to the premium area. The people are super disturbing. Large groups arrive and leave in the middle of the “show”. The audio system is poor. I couldn’t understand half of the announcements.

It was a good experience seeing the cute little penguins at such a close proximity. Pity that no photography is allowed even without flash. Got chilly at night so come prepared with a jacket. Other than penguins, you will be able to see fur seals too.

Amazing experience, love to see how the penguins arrived, it takes a long time, around 1.5 hours. There were also 2 seals who stole the show. Really nice to see how penguins recognised their homes, you can also hear lots of chicks calling their mums/dads for food. Staff were very friendly and explained everything.
