Our prime purpose is to receive and dispatch messages by radio, phone, pager or fax between the Fire Control Centre and units in the field. These communications services may also involve many of the other Emergency Services.
Communication occurs with units that may be involved in bush or structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, storm and tempest, search and rescue, hazard reductions, public relations exercises or many other situations. Communications Unit members may become involved in incidents in the local district, anywhere in the state, or even interstate.
