Great place, I love playing here the ref's are good and great facility, so many courts. Coaching is alright just some seasons we don't get a coach which sucks but everything else is great.
Our son has been attending this venue for junior club basketball for over a year and we've never had any complaints. Plenty of seating, not too hot during summer, Cafe with a good variety of food and clean toilets. We've also attended a NBL1 game here which includes a variety alcohol options and food.
Watch out TOXIC as can be. My kids have played there for years. Basketball coaching instruction is fine overall, refs are fine overall and the facility is great. Club culture is horrendous…nUnfortunately, a few bad apples can spoil the bunch.nDefinitely some great people in the organisation and the young athletes work hard and are amazing kids.nn-Gossiping is an issue.n-Nepotism.n-Pressure and control of the young athletes.n-Duty of care breaches unaddressed on many occasions.n-Some coaches very critical of the young athletes, their families, and young referees.n-Leadership is very poor and the club often fails to abide by their code of conduct.n-Poor communication with families despite repeated attempts to improve.n-Scores run up on many occasions. Once two Wizard teams were playing a grading game and the dominant team was adamant to get to 100 points. When they got to 100 parents and coaches cheered loudly. The final score was around 105 to 30.n-Refuse to apologise or address the situation when my child was approached and criticised in the toilet by a coach for their play, demeanour and our family.n-Refuse to address the situation or apologise when my child was pressured to remain with the team in 40c heat in a park with little shade. Then pressured to remain for the afternoon game. My child ended up with heatstroke and vomited the entire night. Very close to taking my child to the hospital.n-Refuse to apologise when my child was disallowed from consuming their lunch in 40c heat, which also contributed to heatstroke.n-Ostracising behaviour of Wizard personnel toward others.n-Hypocrisy on occasion.n-Children afraid of backlash due to the lack of integrity of some personnel in their ranks. Sad when children are afraid that if you address a situation there will be backlash. This fact speaks volumes that there is a significant issue in the club culture. A child should never feel the fear of backlash.n-One of my child’s teams had a hefty win margin over the entire season and still did not play the bench very much at all. Scores were run up until the last 1-2 minutes with constant full court pressure. Why demoralise children? Perhaps a mercy rule is needed.n-Wizard personnel and some parents have repeatedly been insensitive when children are upset and escalate emotions when they obtusely believe they are helping.nnI wish it was about having fun and the kids could just play. There are some great people involved, but unfortunately I have been unimpressed with the clubs conduct.nnAll I have asked for in the past is a letter of apology written to my family and that they improve their ”duty of care.” Crickets…nIf they ever take any sort of responsibility and apologise I’ll change this frowning face to a smile…nn:nnI have had extensive convos with parents and others in the community and there are many clubs with integrity.nnParents at the Northside Wizards organisation put a lot of money into their kids sporting, but the lack of morals, ethics and a negative culture of some is not ideal. The young athletes work very hard and just want to have fun. Definitely unfortunate. These are kids playing kid games. Sport isn’t important, learning and growth as a human is. I empower all to learn about a growth mindset and leave your fixed mindset at the door.
Being invited to your Grandsons game and driving down from C.Qld. I didn't expect such a big open arena, with all the facilities we need at an energy fueled event. Covid compliant, with access for disabled, however more car park would be tremendous.nOver all a great place for our champions of the future.
Very good courts and nice place. One thing bad about this place is that the refs are quite biased towards some teams.
