Northside Pet Superstore has been SA independently owned and is one of South Australia's largest independent pet retailer operating since 1985.

Story

Our History
It all began in 2003 when we first bought a pet store in Kilburn SA called Álan's Northside Pets. After a bit of cleaning and a quick name change to what we are now known Northside Pet Superstore it didn't take long to out grow that location. So we moved to a bigger and better site our current location in Hillcrest. A year and a half later our second store was opened with the purchase of Pets World on Grange Rd in Welland. That location had a full renovation and doubled in size to over 1000sqm in size.

As a company we continue to grow with the support of our loyal customers and staff. We look forward to provided South Australians with more choice and great prices. We continue to support independent local and interstate pet wholesales.

Our staff are highly trained, we have vet nurses, groomers, dog, cat, ferret and reptile breeders on hand to help our customers with the best advice in pet care. Our goal is to give our customers and their loved pets the most up to date information, great service and advice in South Australia

Reviews
They have a great range of pet products, especially for dogs, cats & aquatic life. They also sell lizards, snakes, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, fish & axolotls. The staff are generally friendly and they usually ask if you need help taking big or bulky items to your car. They do have trolleys too. The birds and fish are gorgeous. I often spend a lot of time cooing at the birds or pondering over my next fish or two to purchase. It must be good because there is generally a constant flow of people in the store.

Great staff and they are the first pet store that I have seen who actually know how to keep Siamese fighting fish.

I have been purchasing items from this store for a very long time, since they were at their old Prospect location years back. Staff are always extremely friendly and remember their regulars, if only the same could be said about the stores owners.. Owners are extremely arrogant and rude, the man wont acknowledge customers upon entering the store whilst the wife's number one priority is raking in profit. I have been going to this store purchasing bulk amounts of bird cages for a very long time, theres no doubt I have spent close to $1,000 if not more in this store and owners are unwilling to offer any sort of discount whatsoever, even though I would have continued business with this store. Additionally, I once bought a breeding pair of Club Rung Budgies from this store which I was wrongly charged $60 for when they were only supposed to be $25 each due to a special, which staff did not know how to put through the register.. I got home to discover both birds were clearly suffering a calcium deficiency or something of the sort and neither could fly up from the ground. Sometimes this is an issue with club Budgies due to their size or weight but it was not the case with these two birds, they were obviously suffering some type of malnourishment. Upon returning these two birds and requesting my money back, one owner complied and provided me with a refund and he then took the birds out the back where he said they would watch them for a while to see if they come good. A few days later I was passing the store and popped in just to see if they had any nice Budgies available, to my shock, both birds had been placed back in the cage with other Budgies for sale!! I asked a staff member to check for me to see if they really had come good or not and still, neither of the birds was able to fly or get up off the bottom of the cage. This is a disgusting practice, selling birds which they know are not 100% healthy. It is likely a customer unfamiliar with birds would have purchased these later on and been stuck with the problem due to having not much knowledge.. I feel sorry for whoever purchased this pair of birds. After my unfortunate experiences with the business I will never ever return. The owners definitely made a bad business decision by deciding to raise price on the cages and then refuse me a bulk lot of them for the normal price. I will never return!!!! Disgusting.

It was okay. Good range of products. Pet boarding facilities were hot and smelly.
