Despite the glaring issue that there was no kumara available from the kitchen of a Dargaville hotel, the food was tasty and great value. Creamy pints of Guinness can also be enjoyed here and Steinlager too if you swing that way.nnI didn't use the accommodation so I can't comment but combined with the original architecture and décor the Northern Wairoa is a great pub for the discerning patron who is not expecting a big city experience.nnI sincerely hope that the managers can resolve the issue of the kumara availability, or lack of.nnI would give 4.5 stars if I could but 4 is too low.
If you want a pleasant stay don't book here. We used this hotels own website to book a superior room for the night at a cost of $180 which was the most expensive available. The room we were given was extremely small, having no room for bedside table, chair or table of any description. The tiny window had frosted glass so no outlook at all and let in very little light. The TV on the wall was plugged into the solitary socket in the room but didn't work anyway. When we checked out the manager was unavailable so we called later to enquire if a mistake had been made with our booking but we're assured that ours was indeed a superior room although it bore no resemblance to photos on their website. The room was over priced but we would not stay here again at any cost and would not recommend to anyone. You let Dargaville down. You may well be a historic building but that doesn't give you an excuse to be neglectful.
Went there for lunch today and service was terrible rushing my order before I had finished the food was at poor quilty asked for med rear steak and it was medium yuck I know standard of food and service as I ran 2 well known kitchens in Christchurch and to have staff being rude it needs to be sortednnLast staff actually respected the customers not the new kitchen restaurant staff
We had a booking for a family room. Beds were comfy, staff were amazing, plane was delayed, very late check in, nothing was a problem for them. I would love to return one day!
I think it is over priced for accommodation. Cost almost $160 per night for a very small double bed room. But if you are looking for a haunted hotel and creepy atmosphere, it might worth the money. I did hear some very odd sounds over night from the wooden closet I am sure it’s not from the next door. I almost run out of room. But the creepy lights and old chairs in the hallway just as scary as the sound in the room. I am sorry to waste the power but I did leave the light on whole night or I cannot even get any sleep.nnRoom is dirty in general and lack of maintenance. The ceiling got a hole on it. I can even see dust on the pillow case and duvet. The toilet rim hole is so dirty like never been cleaned for years.
