I am extremely dismayed by the consistent failure of this hospital's staff to provide adequate care. Proper training and a deeper understanding of the importance of their role are essential. When my grandmother was admitted for a stroke, they dismissed her without properly diagnosing her condition, leading to another stroke and fall that broke her ribs. The following two weeks in the ICU and stroke ward were unacceptable, marked by staff who were uncaring and uncommunicative. Her death in that hospital was tragic . Now, my great-aunt is in the hospital for a stroke, and when I called to ask about her, I was met with rudeness and a lack of empathy. The staff did not give her a piece of paper assuring her that I knew she was there and cared like requested, It is appalling that families are treated with such disregard during difficult times. This hospital must address its staffing issues and prioritize compassion and understanding.. do better!
A special thanks to Lee & Read from the emergency department. Upon arrival Read supported my daughter & acknowledged her anxiety. Your support & patience did not go unnoticed.nLee's professionalism & friendliness was welcomed. The way he interacted & explained what he was doing was a huge comfort for my daughter. To also sign her cast once he'd finished applying it, made her day.nThe other staff were also great, but I didn't grab their names. Keep up the great work, you all are amazing at what you do & we thank you .
In the four years since my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I've been left reeling by the way she has been treated here at times, from her breast care nurse to receptionists to not receiving important results at the times she was told that she would, or told that 'you won't wait' when she's simply advocating for herself and her health as its been constantly proven that we have to follow things up and make sure they are attended to. Some of the staff here have made a continuously traumatic time in my family's life even worse with how they have spoken to my Mum. You are not 'just a receptionist', you are the face of the company you work for and you have power with your words and tone in how you make somebody feel. You also have the power to follow up with specialists with urgent messages, I know from personal experience working in a clinic myself, you do have the ability to affect change. Treat your long-standing locals with kindness. It can always be you or your family with cancer next and all the fallout that brings: regular tests, having important appointments moved too far away, pain, long term side effects of treatment. I'd assume you'd expect basic decency from your local healthcare as well were the tables turned. I was told she would be in the best care and treated with dignity by our local services, this has not always been the case. Please leave the profession if you do not care about the quality of care you provide not calling for a phone appointment or leaving a message to say why.
I was a patient attending for knee replacement surgery back on the 24th April 2024 I was in surgical ward for four days after my operation and found most of the staff good but on three occasions I asked if I could shower and on each occasion was told they would organise it soon but never happened this was very disgusting I thought, I returned to the hospital a week later to the ED Department as my wound had been weeping and as requested from my surgeon that I have it seen to, I layed in a room for some time with my wound uncovered and open to infection to which I had concerns, I was admitted to stay overnight and in doing so had a patient opposite me asking to take a shower and when I enquired about his shower he informed me that he had been in for the past five days.very concerning if this is happening frequently
I had reason to attend the Emergency Department yesterday, Sunday morning, and as a retired health profession myself, cannot emphasise the wonderful attention I received right from the onset.nI was quickly ushered into a cubicle and treated gently and with respect by a team of nurses, radiolographer, and doctor and I was on my way home within a few short hours.nMuch in all is was a great experience, I do not wish to return there any time soon!
