The Sydney Metro West project will be constructed with an interchange at North Strathfield Metro Station. It is expected to be open in the next 8 years, by 2030, with connections to Sydney Olympic Park, Parramatta and Westmead. Currently, the traffic demand on this station is exceeding the supply, causing commuters to crowd on the platform and there are no structural barriers to increase commuter safety at this station. Hopefully when the old and the new station is integrated in the Metro project, a new customer experience can be provided with a better design.
Quiet peaceful station with a few nearby shops and a cafe. This is a short walk to North Strathfield shops, restaurants and Aldi. The only issue with the station is that there doesn’t seem to be a lift, and also trains travel infrequently on weekends due to it being a single train line only.
My local station. I have caught a train to / from here most days for the past 15 years. It's a regular suburban station - looking splendid after a recent paint and repointing job. Comfortable waiting room, friendly staff, bike lockers available. You can still find free commuter parking within 400m. The big issue is there are steps to access all platforms. If you use a pushchair or a wheelchair you need to look to the station south Strathfield or north Concord West.
The Epping train line looks to have a bit of some improved stations, North Strathfield is evident with a concrete bridge, but still lacks basic necessities such as a functioning bathroom often locked and lifts.
Quiet, good bike storage, lifts and cover for rain
Well maintained train station. Elevator available.
Watch out wheelchair users, pram-pushers and anyone else who has difficulty with stairs: the station is not accessible and you need to walk up the stairs to the overpass and then down again to platform 1 & 2.
A Lift will help elderly people and will be great if Platform 3 is used for the commute from City
4pm on a Saturday and the toilets are locked. Great for people with medical conditions that mean they need to go urgently sometimes ughhhh.
