I had a horrible experience at this pharmacy this afternoon. I was given the wrong medication yesterday and when I went to ask for help, the pharmacist was extremely dismissive. I was feeling panicked because I have a procedure in hospital tomorrow, and the entire experience seemed highly negligent. Definitely avoid this pharmacy as much as you can.
I’m not sure I’ve ever had such rude, disinterested service in a pharmacy before. Nobody here has any interest in customer service – I’m not expecting anything unreasonable, just a warm and polite welcome and interaction. But here, no matter what you’re after, everything seems to be a hassle for staff.
There is no zero star button unfortunately. Pharmacist is and absolute pig of a man. Made a mistake and then obnoxiously berated me for it at the top of his voice. When I complained in response he called me 'a Karen'. Great way to look after your local customers. If it wasn't attached to a Post Office with equally rude incompetent staff leaving some with no choice other than to go there, I'm pretty sure it would have gone out of business by now. AVOID IF YOU CAN!!
I have been going to this pharmacy for approximately 28 years - the ONLY reason is because Perry and Frank are helpful. As for the staff they are rude disinterested never friendly or polite. very depressing environment - the floor is really disgusting. Staff HAVE NO CUSTOMER SKILLS OR MANNERS. MUCH room for improvement ++++ Joann MELVILLE MCGRATH
If I could minus 100 stars I would!!! This is the most deplorable excuse for a pharmacy I have ever experienced in 44 years. I moved from Preston to Thornbury and quickly decided to actually travel further to NOT have to deal with them or give them my business. I went there one day with an insane toothache that was basically bringing me to tears. All I could do was clutch my face and cry. My best friend came with me as I was even unable to talk due to the pain. All I wanted was some drops to help give temporary relief before I went to a dentist. For the record I am allergic to codeine so can’t take any painkillers. I had done enough research to know there were certain drops that could help. Eventually he marched up to us, almost looking angry that we were even there and said there was only one thing that may help but he didn’t have it but didn't bother to even check. Luckily there was a lovely girl who stood at the counter but obviously overheard and then actually bothered to check and realised they did indeed have these drops. The poor things then actually had to interject and hold up the drops as the older gentleman just refused to even look. I believe the staff under this man may be quite kind and helpful, but the actual pharmacist is a terrible human being who firstly, lacks compassion, secondly lacks basic knowledge of what he/the store even promotes/sells and appears to judge based on appearances or something equally haphazard. My direct comment/feedback to the older man who maybe was the pharmacists sorry, but I cannot call you a ‘gentleman’ as you are far from it. "Never judge people on appearances. I was actually a Global Operations Manager on a six-figure salary for the last decade that specialised in helping businesses improve the level of service they provide all with the aim to increase revenue and increase customer base and retention for MAJOR Global clients. I may walk in wearing a hoodie on the weekend and be clutching my face in agony due to tooth pain. This does not mean I am a second-class citizen that deserves to be treated like cannon-fodder. Shame on you! The business would prosper further without your input or presence, but I am guessing your pride and ego leads you to making very poor decisions from a business perspective. In addition, the way you treat your staff disgusts me! They are perhaps the only reason anyone comes back as you certainly fall short of anything I deem acceptable. You bring a bad reputation to all the other local business I have grown to adore in Thornbury!"
Great shop staff but the pharmacist Leon? was rude and arrogant. Met many other pharmacist offering twice the advice with a tenth of his ego and attitude. Prices were also slightly higher than what I usually pay. Overall an awful experience!
Had the worst experience with the Australia Post in this pharmacy. Both Helen and Bavina were exceptionally rude, unhelpful, unknowledgeable, inconsiderate and downright bullies to customers. I for one am never returning to this LPO ever again, and if you don’t want to be berated by these bullies, don’t go there.
All of these reviews are old so figured I’d update all info: the pharmacy is now an advantage pharmacy basically the IGA of the pharmacy world. So same owners - but corporate brand because of this, things like price may have improved my meds were all pretty reasonably priced!. The customer service was alright, not nearly as bad as the previous reviewers experienced. The assistant was neither here nor there, she took my scripts without much eye contact or acknowledgement - but she was busy focusing on them, double checking everything etc. The pharmacist himself was very polite & thorough. He advised me of my repeat, which prescription it was for & that the others didn’t have repeats. He made eye contact the whole time amazing eyes actually - a deep blue you just wouldn’t expect! and wished me a good evening. All in all, I think a lot has changed since some of these old reviews were completed. I would happily go there again.
For a pharmacy - this place is dirty, run down, and needs a good renovation. It must be the only pharmacy in Australia where staff are rude and dismissive. As a rule, pharmacies in Australia are very friendly, staffed with helpful, competent people. This place must be the exception that proves the rule. I assumed the reason the owner was rude to me was because I was wearing cycling gear. But she was equally rude to another customer who arrived after me, who asked for a prescription to be filled. He reacted very loudly to being treated by the owner with disdain. I didn't say anything. The owner then made faces in my direction, suggesting a "what's wrong with him?" attitude. My prescription cost $12.00 more than other pharmacies. To make things even worse, the Australia Post outlet in this pharmacy is staffed with equally unhelpful, dismissive people. I'm a local. I've used the Aus Post facility many times and have found their behavioiur consistently rude. It's the last time I use the pharmacy. One wonders how businesses like this stay in business?
I'm a local, have been for 20 years, went in today to get some documents certified as police are closed to this atm, the female staff was so rude & dismissive. I went to next suburb, to a chain chemist warehouse & they were immediately so helpful and polite... why would I support local & small when this happens? cheers..
