"Nishiki Japanese Restaurant is a Robatayaki Style Japanese restaurant in Eastern Auckland.Robatayaki - In Japanese cuisine, robatayaki , literally "fireside-cooking", often shortened to just robata in hiragana, refers to a method of cooking, similar to barbecue, in which items of food are cooked at varying speeds over hot charcoal. But now to conserve the trees. we use infrared gas grill to give us the intensive heat for grill cooking.In order to provide more Japanese cusine selections, we have Sushi, Sashmi, salad, tempura, and many other side dishes, For example, Beef Tataki, Beef Carpachio, seaweed salad, dumpling, Stir-fried noodle and vegetable.. to name a few."

Beautiful atmosphere. Friendly welcome and seating.  Showed us how to order and couldn't believe how fast everything everything was bought to the table. Fresh and so delicious! Love this place

Great lil spot that captures so much of Japan. The atmosphere is great with the tablet ordering system is good too. The food just blows your taste buds with umami and freshness. Will 100% be backFood: 5/5

Pretty bad really. Used to be great. Been coming here for about 15 years in total. Unfortunately wont be back. Last 3 or 4 times we have visited on a Saturday or Sunday, public holiday, have noticed a lack of people dining in to what this place used to have at lunch times. Ordered a California roll and sashimi medium also one 300ml house sake. Food was a tiny portion of what it used to be. Prices are stupid high for what you receive now, and the sake was definitely not 300ml. It was so hot that most of it must have boiled away in the microwave and it tasted disgusting due to this. May have been 200 ml max. Cant blame covid for the lack of custom, everywhere else in the area seems busy enough. Maybe its something else.......

Service is good. Polite and friendly staff. We love beef tataki, but their beef tataki is very cold, even the plate was cold. Maybe it just came right out of the fridge. Their miso tofu is our favourite. Great portion size and the flavour is delish. The tempura dishes are a bit small for the price. Sashimi is good.Food: 4/5

This place has been our all time family's fav Japanese restaurant in Auckland. We been keep going back and bring friends there every time we feel like Japanese food. Good selection of dishes, reasonable price before they increased their price recently, easy parking, and food are fresh and tasty~

Nishiki will always be dear to our hearts as it is me and my sister’s favourite Japanese restaurant. It is our go to and we have celebrated a lot of birthdays and milestones here. Although we keep looking at their Menu, we normally order the same things anyway haha. Our staple is Miso Dengaku, Imo Mochi, Mushroom Nikuzume and Yaki Onigiri. Sometimes we spice things up with 2 or 3 new items to find things to add to our staple! We love the fact that you just order with the iPad now too as we get to scroll through the menu and order in our own time. It is especially accommodating to my sister who doesn’t enjoy ordering in person much and usually makes me do it :P We craved it so much during lockdown that as soon as delivery was available, we ordered through it too! It came at the right time that we booked the delivery.  We admit that the service levels and food quality are not always consistent though and we hope you continue to do your best in improving. Stopped by for lunch. It wasn't too busy and we got a table beside the kitchen. The big menus  on the tables give you plenty of options to choose from.  I generally go with 1 big dish and a couple of side dishes for two people. What was new to me was the big lunch bentos which have a variety of different toppings depending on which one you get. Food was tasty and beautifully presented, particularly the bento. Service was really good, they came as soon as we were ready to order. Really nice place for good Japanese food but be wary that you may order too many things on the menu since it all looks really good and it does add up.
