My husband went to the pharmacy to pick up some medication for me, and the experience left us quite disappointed. While the pharmacist did speak to me over the phone for about two minutes, primarily to obtain personal details as well as inquire briefly about my symptoms, we were surprised to find out that we were being charged a $35 consultation fee. This fee was not communicated to my husband before the phone call, and he ended up paying $55 in total, which included the cost of the antibiotics.nnUpon discovering the hefty $35 charge for a brief phone conversation, we called the pharmacist to seek clarification. However, instead of addressing our concerns, she defensively questioned why we hadn’t inquired about the fee beforehand, claiming that no one had ever challenged her in this manner. It was evident that my husband had assumed the $55 was solely for the medication.nnWhile we understand the need for a consultation fee, transparency is key in such matters. A standard consultation with a general practitioner typically costs around $80, making the $35 fee for a conversation lasting less than two minutes seem excessive. While she is within her right to set her fees, consumers should be made aware of any charges beforehand. The pharmacist's response, asserting her right to charge without prior disclosure, only added to our disappointment.
