Walk in without any intention but quite impressive. It's good to bring your kids or persons who love history to this place. There are many interesting items from Egyptian, Greek and Roman cultures in one place. Staff are very friendly and you are allowed to touch some items with the supervision of their staff. Again, very impressive..
A small but lovely museum, the oldest in Australia & free to visit.
Love the mummies Actually the exhibition was a lot more attractive than I thought
Feeling amazing with seeing so many ancient Greek antiquities. Pity is a bit noisy with the massive tourist groups.
Very well curated museum, informative displays, picturesque location, free entry and very knowledgeable staff
It was great time with my two children.
The Nicholson Museum manages to capture the feel of a great archeological museum in what is really quite a compact space. The exhibits are mostly Ancient Greek, the Ancient Near East, Rome and Egypt. I took my 12 year old daughter and a friend to one of their regular activity days. In this case the subject was Ancient Egypt and the kids were able to handle actual artifacts albeit with gloved hands and under careful supervision. So before you plan a visit check out their website for such activities. Entrance is free.
A wonderful museum! Be sure to check when it’s open. Lots of free events are run here too so keep eyes peeled. Appreciate the LEGO Pompeii, good for entertaining myself and younger cousins.
This is a real gem, hidden inside the old sandstone main quad building at Sydney Uni and filled with an amazing collection of artefacts from around the world. It is compact rather than small - I can see why they are building a new museum as there is always more to show!
Although small, this museum provides a similar experience much bigger ones. I loved the Lego version of Pompei and it was fun to learn about fictional and historic events related with the city through Lego characters portraying them. Also on display were artifacts from Cyprus, egipcian mummies and roman sculptures. By the way it's free!
