Wow! What an art deco gem with friendly service and good coffee. Gundagai is worth a visit; it’s small but mighty with good retail and a friendly vibe. If you’re driving the Hume I highly recommend taking a break and sitting down in the Niagara for a coffee or food. We only had coffee but the menu looks enticing. The restoration of this cafe is first class. Give it a go!
Step back in time. This is the most beautiful cafe I've been to in the last 50years. It reminds me of when I was a boy. Old fashioned fittings down to the door handles and baker lite light switches. The cafe opened in 1939 and has been renovated completely a couple of years ago. Come see for yourself. Magnificent
Amazing visit to the era of the Deco splendour of the Greek Milk Bar, perfectly restored with all original counter, booths and even vaulted ceiling. Our breakfast was as good as the service by a waitress who came here as a child. A must visit and worth getting off the hume highway for.Food: 5/5
What a gem in the main street of Gundagai! Beautifully restored. Fabulous friendly staff. The menu lists old cafe favourites like the Niagra beef burger, fish n chips, toasted sandwiches and lots more. Milkshakes in real tin cups, huge cups of great coffee and excellent service. Sure to please.
Fabulous time capsule and beautiful presentation. Great breakfast in early 20th century setting. Booth seating and good menu. Suitable for vegetarians. Well worth the stop. I tried corn fritters and my partner had eggs Benedict. Great coffee as well. No real down sides but I did notice that the unisex bathroom did not have a change table but also noticed it was spacious so it likely does not matter. I was excited to find such a art deco gem in the middle of the country. The service was great and the food was of good quality. There was just one little hygiene issue that caught me, there was a very large amount of gum under my table which I ended up accidentally touching. All in all a good and interesting experience!
Top marks on a splendid restoration, retaining all the charm of old, along with reinstallation of long-lost features. The staff are so friendly and welcoming -- I was very impressed that several young people are employed there, learning the ropes. The food was great, taking me back to the old days.Food: 5/5
Popped in this afternoon for coffee and some cake, did get excited about a pie but they had all gone. The cake was lovely and the coffee was wonderful all surrounded by the noise of a place going strong. Great staff friendly atmosphere, most enjoyable
Wonderful Cafe that has been beautifully restored. Food, coffee and staff were all lovely. Definitely stop here on your way past!Recommended dishesReuben Sandwich
Where do you start. Amazing art deco fit out originally from 1902 or something ! Incredibly friendly staff. Spotlessly clean, great food. I seldom post reviews, but if you’re coming through town worth popping in !
