Newport Lakes is a bushland oasis created from a former bluestone quarry and rubbish tip site in the middle of busy Newport. The park is a great place for a picnic with family and friends, for a leisurely walk or just to relax in a tranquil bushland setting.nnThe lakes area of the 33-hectare park has been extensively revegetated using native plants, with over 200 species of plants and 165 species of birds recorded here.

Beautiful to visit & get into nature. Makes you feel like you’ve escaped the city without actually having done so.nCar park onsite. To the left of the car park are restrooms & if you take a walk further up there’s a playground & you can walk your dogs on lead.nTo the right of the car park - the actual Newport Lake reserve, you cannot bring your dogs in for a walk. It is prohibited.nThere’s a great stepping stone path that crosses over the water. It is safe. My octogenarian mother with a walking stick was able to do it.nThere’s flat grass areas where groups have picnics.
Lovely place to visit to just kick back and relax. Very calming and learning to be surrounded by nature.
