Although the food didn't completely amaze me, it was undeniably good. One aspect that stood out during my visit was that the dumplings are made to order and even the dough is house-made. While I didn't encounter any standout dishes that left a lasting impression, I still enjoyed the meal and appreciated the quality ingredients and attention to detail. In conclusion, New Shanghai is a restaurant that offers a pleasant dining experience. The ambience is charming, the service is relatively quick. I would recommend this place for a relaxed lunch or casual gathering with friends. Vegetarian options: The variety of vegetarian dishes is not big but still something to choose from.
I love their dumplings and tried the xiao long bao and the lamb dumplings. Both are very juicy and was made fresh onsite. The pancake scallions are very dry to my liking, I've tried in other Chinese restaurant and in this restaurant it's not my favourite. We also ordered the Chinese noodles in xo sauce and it is just okay and we find it very fishy. The drinks are my faves here however they arrived so late that we've already finished out food before it turns up. Also, the place stinks of fish. We were seating near the door and the odour is just off putting while you're eating. I'll come back for the dumplings and the drinks again.

Dinner with family. Service was quick and attentive. Price is bit over. Way expensive than Sydney. Foods are authentic and good flavours.
Food was average. We were given wet and dirty bowls and spoons. We asked for another set but still the came out wet so had to dry it ourselves. Also not kid friendly, we were not given high chair for the kids. When I went to the counter to pay, the staff was condescending and ungrateful.
I wanted to try somewhere different and unfortunately very disappointed. Order was: mini pork wonton soup, pork and chive dumplings, crab and pork 'signature' bao and kung pao chicken. The chicken was so rubbery that I thought we had ordered the vegan chicken. Crab and pork bao... As my husband said, it smells like bin juice pork. $70, just on food, no drinks, and we left hungry. Everything took ages even the pot of tea. Food was lukewarm and tasteless. Ordered an $18 plate of stirfried green veggies and served a half portion. Photo shows the plate as initially served up. Complained but manager didn't bother to reply. Big rip off. Left hungry after $100 bill and went home to eat. Other customers also didn't get their orders and went home.
My first time here. I ordered the pork dumplings and pork belly bao. They both tasted so good.
The food was average but atmosphere was good. Service is fast and friendly
You have to try the pot stickers and the Xio longbao soupy dim sum, best dumplings in town!! The decor is super nice and the staff is friendly despite how busy they are! I don’t understand other reviews complaining about using QR code or the staff ….there is a line to go there every day and there is a reason for that, it’s amazing!
