The food was average, food is good, and the staff is polite. We had noodles with chicken, mushroom, and meat balls; and fragrant rice with mushrooms. Both comes with a bowl of chicken stock on the side. Noodles was okay, but mushroom tasted good. The fragrant rice is white rice with soy sauce and chicken stock plus chicken and mushrooms on the top. Didn't taste great but edible. However, I am upset with the charges levied. They charge 50c for the takeaway container--I mean, you already charged $17 for that food and we weren't able to finish it so we decide to take it home. I understand few restaurants charge for the container but 50c is the highest so far I've paid here..!!! It is no fine-dining, it is not inexpensive, it is self-service and minimal cutlery is provided. So why this much extra? Also, carrying cash is recommended as 1.5% of surcharge applies on card payments. Plus public holidays charge is 15%. Overall just okay!
Food is tasty and I went for the rice and veggie/meat combo as the food looked appealing. Was also delighted to find that they sell otak, however am disappointed that it’s not the style I was expecting. It felt like I’m eating fish cake, but when mixed with the spicy satay sauce, the taste is not bad. Table feels quite small when you are sharing with a friend sitting across. I had stomachache the next day, not sure if it’s due to the food, but probably won’t try it again as for the price you are paying, I may go to another Indonesian restaurant.
Ordered beef with rice and potato with green beans and some desert. All under 20$ and very yummy! A bit spicy and very soft beef made my day! I wish they had descriptions for those who're not familiar with Indonesian cousine
Buffet style lunch. Ordered two of the rice + 3 items combo - and was stuffed! Portions are huge, and a lot of options to choose from! Every dish was excellent and would make a great meal just by itself.
This place combines ordering from a menu and ready-made food from their bain-marie. I ordered beef rendang, tripe and beef with rice. I must say the beef and tripe dish is so delicious and tender. Unfortunately, I was disappointed having the beef rendang. The meat was quite tough that I couldn't eat it. I'm a huge fan of beef rendang. Hopefully, next time it’ll be more tender. The staff has excellent customer service, and they’re attentive to cleaning the table right away when a person has left. The place is super clean and pram friendly—plenty of tables and chairs. Many people mainly ordered from the bain marie because it was cheap. You can choose from many combinations of 1 meat and veg with rice, one heart and two veggies with rice or you can select and create your variety and pay the extra. My sister ordered the fish, and it was delicious—so fresh and good quality.
Reasonable Indonesian food option. Two veg, one meat on rice $15. Onde onde was $6. All tasted authentic and good.
I ordered fried catfish it was very salty is not fresh, please don’t sell the food which is longer in the fridge. Soto ayam was ok, girl tilapia was ok .
One of the best Indonesian restaurant located in CBD Melbourne. Lots of Indonesian food available here. You can either eat them in place or aks for taking them away. One of the most delicious menu is Nasi Goreng with prawn, fried eggs and chilly sauce. Just allot your five minutes to get their tasty.
so glad to be back here and had lunch at Nelayan. the beef rendang is a Must Try. the portion is quite Big, lovely taste and ambiance.Food: 4/5
Taste: 4/5 Authentic, but too salty for my taste. Average to not bad. Service + Attitude: 2.5/5 A little rude and seemingly care-less attitude. Greet your customers before the order and after the payment, your customers are not invisible. Portion Size: 3/5 Yellow Rice + 2 Meats. Beef Rendang is decent-sized, Turmeric Chicken Breast is tiny-sized. I do not understand why the 2 Meats option cannot be 2 × Beef Rendang. I was told there is an additonal charge of $4 for another beef portion. It does not make sense, as if the price is not high enough. Value: 3/5 $16++. For the portion size, I think it was a bit much to charge for this price. Dietary restrictions: Halal. Serve no pork, no lard.
