Today, I visited the Myer store in Macquarie around 5:00 pm. I was wearing work clotheslabour and felt uncomfortable from the moment I entered the store. The security guards began following me immediately. I was searching for a gift for my husband, so I spent time browsing through the men’s section. After selecting the gift, I moved to the women’s section to continue shopping. As I was descending the stairs, a security guard approached me and asked if I needed help paying for the item I was holding. I politely declined and asked if it was necessary to pay at that moment, as I was still looking for additional items. The security guard said it wasn’t necessary but continued to follow me and spoke into his heaphone with other staff members. I noticed that all the staffs were watching me closely, which made me feel extremely embarrassed and self-conscious. After a few minutes, the same security guard insisted that I pay for the item immediately. I questioned why I needed to pay at that moment, as I was still browsing and planned to purchase more items. He simply told me that it was better for me to pay then. I ended up having to make two separate transactions, which felt unnecessary and added to my distress. I spent over $500 in the store, and it seems unlikely that someone who was stealing would spend that much, right? Feeling humiliated and distressed, I proceeded to the cashier, where I paid for the item while crying from shame. Despite my efforts to continue shopping and find more items, the salespeople and security guards continued to watch and follow me around the store. I have been a loyal member of the store since 2022, and this type of treatment is unprecedented for me. I am left wondering if this happened because of my clothing, or if my status as an immigrant? Considered questioning the staff about the situation, understanding that stores deal with theft, but I am puzzled about why I was targeted. I am deeply upset and will not return to that store. It is disgraceful and unacceptable how I was treated.
Thank you to that young girl Rachel from fragrances for looking after me in my search for a gift for my wife. Truly a blessing very friendly and knowledgeable. My wife is very happy with what she helped me pick out. I hope to be assisted by her at this store in the future in the case of any future fragrance needs.
This is not against Myer, but the Chanel counter at Myer. There were 2 ladies serving. One was fine. I kept rolling my eyes at her about the older lady with the dark hair. All I wanted was one lipstick. She kept trying to talk me into a pack of 2, at obviously twice the price. I kept saying no! I the end I had to say I have had a lot of expense with dental work and cataracts removed. She was frankly embarrassing. She really made me angry and pissed me off. I do not like pushy sales people. And for that reason I will not deal with them again, but go elsewhere for my Chanel needs.
Update: They are so understaffed. I saw a poor old lady wandering around calling out for service for ages... along with other customers looking and waiting for service. This happens almost every time I go in a Myer. The staff at this particular store are still kind and helpful when you do find one, but it's obvious how overwhelmed they are. This complain is for the management: Please prioritize your customer service. It's way more important than all the silly advertising strategies and marketing schemes. You are losing loyal customers!! --- Excellent service! And very well stocked with lots of variety of brands. I find it to be better than the other Myer stores around Sydney... not too busy, not too quiet usually means very limited stock and no staff around to help you. I was looking for some presents and not sure about sizes, and the lady was extremely helpful.
The workers are rude and have no interest in serving customers. Especially on level 2. They walk away from the desk when you're waiting in line, and they don't even acknowledge your presence. I decided to put the items back and walk out of the store instead.
My favourite Myer outlet, good that it’s also the nearest Myer from my place. Always full of stocks. Many times I find pieces here that are out of stock in biggest outlets. Always clean and very friendly staffs. The baby room is very comfortable as well. Myer in general is one stop shop. You come here and get everything for your home or yourself. Right from fashion to skincare to makeup, to luggage to baby items and toys. Home decor to cool wear. I love it and would highly recommend
Pros: Perfect location. Good variety and price range. I like the sale offers here. Have all for men, women and kids. To add the staffs are really good. Grab a coffee or a mill tea and just keep on shopping. Good range of perfumes too. Also the same for shores and designer bags for ladies. Cons: Should give more discounts for regular customers. Also should have seating space.
Prices are a bit on the high side but overall the presentation is good and there are many items to pick from
Melissa from Benefit Cosmetics is terrible at providing customer service. She was rude and condescending and I felt unwelcome to shop there. I cannot believe someone actually hired her with the way she spoke to me. I have never had any issues with Myer in the past so this was such a shock to me. Myer as a whole I have no issue with. This one star rating is for Melissa.
Never shop at a store. I have had great difficulty trying to replace a jumper where the sleeve knit unravelled after 2 weeks! Can't post return. Must bring into a shop. Can't get anyone to answer my call- rang 6 times during morning and just get hung up on. I want to get a new item the same, and make sure it is in store waiting for me before I drive there. Will just have to get money back.
