This place is a truly hidden gem. A great display of air craft. Well worth a visit...
Beautifully maintained museum with knowledgeable ex army volunteers. Kudos to all volunteers. Restrooms available in the immediate vicinity in the Oakey civil terminal. Helicopters from different periods and fixed wings as well. A lot of historical items ranging from the beginning of the 20th century- some of them reminded me of my time in the middle east and even from Beersheba. Highly recommended - look at the photos and notice even a Gilera motorcycle around 1976 which belongs to one of the volunteers
Entry is free. This was a great experience for us and our kids, they were super friendly, some of the displays are interactive, and you can get inside the big chinook helicopter which is amazing. They had a crate of vests and helmets for the kids to try on, colouring ins, a drink fridge and a gift shop too. The toilets are located in the adjacent small airport building at the end of the carpark.
This place was great. It has it all. Black Hawk , Chinook, Huey and more. Even has the Red Baron's WW1 Plane. A really good collection and well presented.
Staff were helpful with information and very lovely to speak to - we brought disability support clients out to visit and they loved it also! I've been a few times now and it's great to see it is now free to enter :
