Story

Moxhe (pronounced Mox) is a Modern Australian restaurant with a focus on Fresh Seafood.
It was started up by partners Helen Diab and David Coumont, and the name comes from David’s home village in Belgium.

“We love Australian Seafood. The concept of our restaurant is to bring the diversity of the Sydney fish market to the table. We go there every morning and pick the best, from your favourites to uncommon species. We really love those fish that you don’t see anywhere else.
We work with an evolving specials board.
What is nice that morning is what you will find on our board.

To compliment our menu we also make our own fresh bread daily and you will often see chefs run into the garden to pick herbs for your dishes.

Wine is our first/second love. We are curious, and that is evident in our wine list. It has the same philosophy as our food menu, diversity. Like our food boards, we have a ‘wines by the glass’ board evolving on a daily basis, giving you the chance to try something different.

Our last board on the wall, belongs to our degustation menu. We love to eat, to take our time and enjoy the flavours in a series of small dishes. Our degustation gives you the chance to do exactly that. You can sample David’s pick of the day, enjoying six courses with the choice of Helen’s matching wines.”

"Moxhe is a seafood restaurant in Bronte, the team in the kitchen goes to the fish market every day to hand pick what will be on the menu that night. They make fresh bread everyday, everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. The cuisine is light and delicate with a strong focus on less known fish species, wild caught in Australia. The different type of oysters available on their menu is a must try! Moxhe approach to seafood is quite unique, light and fresh, with a lot of attention paid to the cooking methods, the vegetables and delicious sauces. The sommelier has put together an award winning wine list, including Australian and international wines, sake, beers and spirits. A great place to enjoy some of the best seafood in town."

It was such a lovely experience to dine at Moxhe. Quality of their seafood was impressive. It’s shown in the food they choose the fish carefully and cook them delicately, so we could enjoy the freshness and natural goodness of the ingredients with beautifully balanced flavours. The course was well paced and 8 course degustation was served generously. Their service was just perfect. Attentive but giving us space to enjoy the dining experience. The restaurant’s atmosphere, service and food had a unique balance of vibrancy and natural calm feeling at the same time.
Felt the service was exceptional and the food was great too. I can appreciate the efforts put forward into all dishes presented. We had the eight course and the flow of food felt just right. I've never felt compelled to tip before - this was my first time doing so.
The quality of the seafood is very good, everything is very fresh. Some dishes were hit and miss. - Oysters, were fresh and well cleaned - Zucchini flower this was nice, on the small side - Smoked trout was really nice, definitely a must try - Ravioli is shaped like a dumpling and the filling is on the firmer side, the sauce I didn't particularly enjoy it - Squid ink pasta was undercooked, hard and not pleasant to eat, a shame as we ordered the main size. We finished it as to not waste food but in hindsight should have sent it back. Quite disappointing as it was $40+ - Flathead whole fish, whilst beautifully cooked and a good size about 40cm long, the same sauce is used from the Ravioli. Had we known the sauces are the same we would have gone with a different dish - Celebration dessert is a tart. We chose raspberry, caramel and pistachio. Delicious and beautiful to look at. At a premium of $15 per person it is a shared dessert. Although I had mentioned this was a birthday celebration there was no candle. Whilst not a bad meal, for the price just expected more of the food. The interior is small and intimate and the service is good. There wasn't a second dining session so we weren't rushed out, it was great to have a break between the entrees/main and dessert. We left very full.
Dined in for Valentines and they did not disappoint! The place was nice and cosy, very clean even the bathroom! The staff were attentive and friendly. We had the degustation with matching wine. Everything was delicious and great quality. Thank you we really enjoyed our dinner
Having cooked professionally, It's just so nice when a chef sends out a bunch of dishes that all of which are better than anything I'd ever been able to put together. Very strong service, very fresh produce, very good music. Banging.
I called up Moxie to confirm that they were open. The voicemail repeated the same hours that are on Google. When I buy tear 20 minutes I was out to find that the restaurant was closed. If you were going to enjoy the privilege of people coming to you because of Google reviews… You owe it to your customers and to Google to keep your hours updated! The sad part is even their voicemail wasn’t updated. … maybe there was a good reason to not spend 3 1/2 minutes to consider your customers. The happy side as I got to eat next door at Eugene’s. The lunch was fantastic! so glad I got the opportunity to make a new and wonderful discovery after being disregarded by Moxhe.
We had such an amazing dining experience at Moxhe. All the seafood and other ingredients were fresh and sourced locally. You can tell a lot of thought had been put into dish creations. Each course was well prepared and refined, and the flow of the courses was very harmonious. We thought all dishes were delicious, but the house-made pasta was the standout. The sauce was so rich and had ample chunks of lobster and prawns. Our meal lasted 3 hours but it was paced out very well. The portions were generous and we were so full by the end of the night. I also commented to my husband numerous times on the beautiful plates and bowls used throughout the meal. The decor of the restaurant created a warm ambiance and added to the dining experience. We will be recommending Moxhe to our friends and can't wait to be back. Thoroughly enjoyed :
Delicious, vibrant and fresh! We came here on Sunday morning for the brunch special. We had the seafood tart which I would recommend to anyone who loves quiche with a twist, this was the best quiche we ever had. We also tried the blue mackerel on toast, it was so fresh paired with beautiful herbs, together it was amazing. Then we had the prawn croissant, yes you read correctly, the prawn croissant was so succulent and crispy, also a must try. This place is a little gem with 10/10 for taste, quality and freshness of ingredients and 10/10 for the service. Plus it's very well priced and worth every penny. We've had a great experience and can't wait to come back for the evening menu! Thank you!
This is a wonderful restaurant. The dining room is beautifully done with comfortable chairs, soft lighting and a personal feel. The staff are delightful. Very helpful and knowledgeable. The food is a small and excellent choice of fresh seafood. There’s a background French touch with such things as beautiful pastry and good presentation. One of the best meals I have had in quite a while. We shared entrees. Had our own mains prawn ravioli for me To finish we were sharing a perfect rhubarb tart. With a bottle of SA rose and sparkling water it all came in at 100$ including a tip. Good value for Sydney. Highly recommended.
I was excited to try this place from long time and I decided to book a table for my girlfriend's birthday a month ago. The Chef prepared a tasting 8 course menu which is called "deeper dive" and we choosed to matching the wines to have a better experience, each dish was a surprise both for our sight and for our palate. The Australian salmon tartare was the highlight for us both, but every other dish was also really delicious with handmade special bread on the side. The service was friendly and attentive specially Rita the waitress, explain us every dish and various ingredients in a professional manner. The "cherry on the cake" was that seat at the restaurant that night there was a journalist of "Sydney Morning Herald" who published in the journal our picture during this dining experience, it was a nice gift for my half! Note that you do not know what kind of dish they gonna serve before you go there, you need to trust the chef and their set menus that I guess are decided in base of the market. This is not a cheap place off course, but that you pay is worth and compared with the quality and freshness of the fish and all ingredients. I wish you all the best guys and I hope to book a table again sometime soon!
