Such a beautiful hotel with great service and amenities! Booked for our 1st year anniversary and the lovely staff left us a note with a little dessert dish in our room. The staff were great and very friendly. Room was very well cleaned and the hotel overall is modern with really nice decorations and interior! The pool is great and so cool that they have a gym as well. I do wish they included hotel slippers but they did give us complimentary toothbrushes and cotton pads upon asking The hotel breakfast buffet was great too with really fresh ingredients. Such a lovely stay, definitely recommend.
After my initial review, prior to staying in the room, of 1 star, the experience only improved slightly. The room was nice and spacious and beds comfortable, but that’s were it stops. This property, cannot be promoting itself as five star, it’s a solid four and definitely not worth the extra you pay. It’s missing the little things you expect, like good customer service, porter service, nice toiletries, luxury bath linens. It’s a real concern when the guest are more friendly then the staff. If you want to pay more for less then stay here, otherwise chose another property to stay with.
We stayed for 4 nights and had a great experience. The rooms are beautiful. The hotel is new and you can tell. The bathroom was so lovely with rainfall and hand held shower heads. There is shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser and body/ hand wash available in large pump bottles as opposed to those tiny mini bottles- the larger bottles are much more sustainable and a great idea. There being a pillow menu was great. I asked for extra pillows and a blanket with the staff getting these for me promptly and being so friendly. Check in & check out was no hassle. You can't do better in terms of location. The soundproofing and blackout blinds in the rooms were amazing, I am a fussy sleeper and it was very quiet and dark. Overall a great experience, we will return! Food & drinks: There is a chocolate hour in the afternoon where complimentary, small desserts are served. There is an on site Asian restaurant, a bar and a small cafe that offers small desserts, ice cream and hot drinks.
Modern, clean and excellent breakfast. The pool/spa area is a particular treat. While I'd happily stay here again it's much more a very comfortable business hotel than the 5* experience; and for these purposes the lack of desk was a bit of a nuisance! Beware, rooms do get a bit of noise from the busy street outside and the passing trams. Pretty quiet overnight.
I wouldn't consider this a 5 star hotel. I'm not sure what the criteria are for the ratings, but I certainly know I've stayed at a lot better. It is a simple hotel with many of the luxuries associated with a 5 star hotel missing. Their 'chocolate hour' consists of tiny morsels of chocolate taken out from a fridge sitting on top of the milk bottles next to the counter they're served on, while the chef behind the counter prepares dinner. Surely they could find a better way to serve, present and display the chocolate? Also, there are no plates for guests to use in this 5 star hotel during chocolate hour, only serviettes. The room has a fridge, but no mini bar. Overall very basic, and shouldn't be more that a 4 star hotel for sure! Missing all the grandeur of a normal 5 star hotel.
I had a fantastic stay at Movenpick on the weekend. The reception staff on the Saturday morning went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, helping with my early luggage check in and family needs. The chocolate hour was great, as was the huge selection at the buffet breakfast. The pool and spa were so relaxing it meant I did less in town as we were enjoying the hotel facilities so much. In addition, the pillows were good quality and supportive for the neck, so unlike many places I've stayed.
Nice room, comfortable bed with a yummy breakfast this morning. Would happily stay again. Has nice pool facility and spa but with 3 of the 4 windows being open to the elements it was pretty cold between pool and getting out. I'm sure this will be great in summer.Rooms: 4/5
I stayed here two nights by myself. It was a bit of a mixed experience. On the one hand the staff were fantastic and really friendly, and the hotel is modern with a contemporary feel. On the other hand, the location of my room was in a high traffic area right next to the pool and on the second floor also got a lot of street noise. Didn’t feel so private. Query why a modern hotel was designed this way. Also the room lacked basic amenities - I asked reception for a razor/shaving kit but it wasn’t available. I’m not sure this is correct for a 5 star hotel. Google says it is 5 star despite the response from the hotel to another review saying it’s not actually 5 star - Google may need updating. It was a fine stay and I cannot fault the lovely staff at reception but given the above not sure the price paid was justified unfortunately.
A little disappointed with our stay. I absolutely think that we could have gotten a better stay somewhere else with what we paid for. The room is a little small and the aircon isn’t that great. It was the only hotel we have stayed that doesn’t provide own personal toiletries such as toothbrush and toothpaste. The part where we were most excited about, the complimentary chocolate afternoon tea, was not impressive at all. There were just two plates of chocolate cakes and some small bottles of chocolates for everyone who went down for it. Imagine 30 people sharing it? Also, the lounge is not spacious enough for the hotel clients and the restaurant clients. On the positive side, we enjoyed the pool. However, we definitely won’t be booking again.
Our overall experience of this hotel was good, right from the get go staff lovely and informative from front desk. Rooms were modern, clean and had comfy beds. Dined downstairs in foyer for chocolate hour, but this was disappointing, with bought chocolate pretzels, raspberry bullets in clear jars, mousse cups and bought chocolate cake sliced into tiny squares. I thought for a property that promotes itself as a 5star establishment, you think desserts would be a little more decadent, same as promoted on their facebook page. Very disappointing!!!! Was good to experience.
