Apparently one of the only famous sunrise spots in Adelaide. But there is massive wait for the sun to come out from behind the hills. Beautiful place to relax and vibe with some music.
This is one of our favorite destinations in Adelaide, especially in spring and autumn. Mount Lofty is poetically and gently beautiful, where I can immerse myself in nature and relax for hours with family and friends.
On this occasion we visit the Mount Lofty Summit and Botanic Gardens. We planned to do some of the hikes there are many; especially Long Ridge Lookout, which would be amazing for sunrise/sunset, but ran out of time on this trip. Great views from the top of Mount Lofty Summit. Easy access, minutes from car park you have to pay for parking. There is a cafe which we didn’t visit and gift shop at the top. Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens are beautiful even in the grey weather we experienced, we hiked around the entire gardens, which took about an hour. Would be a perfect location for a picnic.
Beautiful scenery and amazing walks on offer. Staff in the gift shop are very friendly and keen to assist with any queries. There is a cafe but I didn't visit it. Note: it costs $4 flat rate to park. There are buses but they only drive the route 3 times a day - stopping at the Botanical Gardens, Summit and Cleland park.
Mount Lofty was a medium to difficult hike to the summit. Some parts were steep but the paths are very well kept. The paths are mostly paved apart from a couple of small areas. The view from the top is nice. You may also be able to spot some wildlife during your walk.
Mount Lofty was such a beautiful place to visit, not too fair out of the city and a great stop over on the drive back home to Melbourne. We stopped over to see a fantastic view of the city and the cafe restaurant was great. We grabbed some coffee which was also good. Highly recommend Mount Lofty for the views.
A challenging trek but a good one! Enjoy the views along the way and when you get to the top, treat yourself to the Cafe! The way back down will be much easier and a good way to take in the surroundings. The path has mostly been paved or upgraded to add safety and friction. Quite good even in the damp of winter.
Great view on this mountain. The path direction the mountain is also great. Start at the waterfalls. Is you start there you beginnwith the mountainclimbup. A lotbof stairs you havento climb. But if you at the mountain, then you have a great view. Unbelieveble how beautiful. It a real 5-stars walk or hike. The way back to the waterfall is then easy. Take your time. Underway visit Cleland with the coala's en kangaroos. A day out you will never forget.
Always a good destination particularly in the evenings if you are teaching an L plater to drive at night! Freeway speeds, differing lighting and slower country road conditions with tighter corners. The owls are great to watch eating the insects around the lights in the night time, and you might spot a koala or even a potoroo around the skips at the back! Views can be spectacular...or misty, both great. The food and coffee are quite good in the cafe and the tourist shop has some interesting finds. The hike up from Waterfall Gully takes a bit of practice and training!
Beautiful mountain. The Mont Lofty Botanical Garden, Mont Lofty summit and various trails are great.
